Big trade with the Wings

Created by: MisstheWhalers
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 30, 2020
Published: Sep. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Basically the Wings trade is trying to acquire a young RHD with size to pair with Morrissey and pick up a grittier winger in Bertuzzi, I think this is a more then fair deal for Detroit, Jets are probably overpaying actually, threw in Niku cause he could use a change of scenery and is young enough to be part of the Wings future. I think the Wings should be adding but I don't want to get an onslaught of hate.. 😃
Bozak is to improve the center depth and the Blues could still use some cap relief, let's just say he waives, he is from just down the highway so if mom and dad are still in Regina they can come watch him play!.. Lol
Added Edmunson for some size on the backend, Pionk needs a bigger D partner, brought back Sbisa as he was solid for the Jets when he wasn't stuck with Bitetto.. Lol, that'd be a good third pair.
The defense is bigger overall which I think is necessary, as it stands the Jets defense is too small and isn't built for playoff hockey.
Haula is signed as a stopgap 2C, draft the best center left with the 10th overall pick Chevy!
Martin is signed for some size and muscle, Wilson adds some veteran presence, he might be able to move up the lineup if injuries happen.
Greiss is signed to give Helly a break and not burn him out, Helly plays better when he's challenged and Greiss would be a good 1B. Buried Perreault, sucks but it is what it is, a dump trade would be too costly and he could be recalled if the injury bug hits.
Lots of expiring money for Pionk and Laine raises!
Not too worried about the expansion draft with this lineup, would probably send Seattle a 2nd round pick to take Copp or something like that, would be figured out later anyhow.
So is this a playoff team?
Is that Wings trade good or bad for either team, who adds in that deal or is it fair as is?

Let me know in the comments section but let's try to keep them constructive, thanks!

So just for the fun of it what would the jets offer for Parayko?

I also agree with the assumption he’d waive to play there. You all are a winning franchise in a hockey town and he’s from there

Bozak is better than Haula

and I would accept that trade in a heartbeat if I was the Jets

Not too sure about the Wings tho

Laine?

I almost would rather have Connor but that’s probably a personal bias. That would be an interesting deal

That's not the point of this post.. Lol

Idk, I don't see the Blues trading Parayko and what it would take might not be worth it if he doesn't want to sign with Winnipeg, he only has two years left after all.

Pretty sure Parayko is from Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Um yeah the Seider thing is an absolute no.
Would love to see Connor play next to Larkin again.
Curious if you could build a trade around Mantha for Connor without Hronek/Seider?

Okay swap Haula and Bozak around, either way it gives the Jets some depth at center which they sorely lack, also accomplishes it without trading Ehlers, Laine or Connor.

Yeah I think it works for Winnipeg, think it's good for Detroit too though, Connor is a local kid and Heinola is no slouch either!

I think you're right. That is a pretty big overpay by the Jets in the Detroit trade.

Bertuzzi and Niku aren't worth a lot in relation to the other players in this trade, so I guess you're saying the difference between Seider and Heinola is Connor?

Too steep for me for an unproven player.

Really like Mantha but no, the whole point was to get a bigger and younger rhd to pair with Morrissey.

Connor is a horrible defender, bottom 5 in the entire NHL actually

Idk, I think it's fairly even, Bertuzzi isn't as good as Connor but he has been pretty consistent throughout his career and plays a different style of game the Jets could use and Seider is a good prospect.

I do think Detroit should add but idk what exactly, they can have Niku, he'd probably do well there.

No thanks Bertuzzi should be a 50-60 point per season LW, And Seider's going to be a stud. Not interested.

Yeah no one scores on every possession.
Once again, 40 goals, 40 goal scorers don't grow on trees.

Y’all crazy, it makes zero sense. Regardless of getting into values... Which both teams clearly are valuing their own way more.

Ok, but his value drops significantly if you consider the fact that he hurts his team more than he helps it

The value seems fine I suppose but I'd pass as a Wings fan, I just love way Seider plays and the potential he has

I'd do something around Bertuzzi+ for Connor tho

I don't think it's crazy at all, Connor was going to hit 40 goals before the stoppage and Heinola had a nice debut at the beginning of the season with 5 points in 8 games as an 18 year old.
This isn't a crazy proposal at all.

I hear ya and that's fair, was just trying to do something different then all the same effing posts that are on here over and over.. Lol

The Jets could use a guy like Seider so that's why I made this trade and I think it's pretty fair or a bit of an overpay by Winnipeg, fully get not wanting to trade Seider though.

Don't think so, he's a 40 goal scorer on a great contract for 6 more seasons.

How can you call it a great contract if hes literally the worst defender in the entire NHL

keep in mind, a majority of his goals are easy set-ups by Schiefele

Remember how he disappeared in the playoffs after Scheifele went down?
