In regards to the Ducks trade, the Kesler contract is over 80% insured and the Samueli’s can easily afford to pay the difference. It’s not worth getting rid of a 2nd.

Hell, it's not worth getting rid of a 6th. In 2022.

I don't know what you're thinking about with that Kesler trade. That's the 36th overall pick you're talking about. The only guys we'd give you that for are Nicholas Robertson or Timothy Liljegren.

well if you guys want a 6'4 top RHD, who's very good defensively and is on a good contract. That's what is going to cost you.

I wasnt terribly serious about the Kessler trade, doesnt affect the team at all, just there to get feedback because i read Kessler may be an LTIR contract on the block

Don't care whether you want him or not, but don't act like you know him that well and what teams will give up. Big, physical 26 year old $3.8M RHD guys like him, especially in a flat cap world, don't grow on trees. He's easily worth a 1st and highly doubt the Hawks would trade him anyway for just a 1st.

I mean, you were the one who said "you arnt getting him" so, obviously you care at least a little.
And if Chicago wouldn't trade him for a 1st, well that's pretty funny. Hes not half as good as you're making him out to be, otherwise hawks fans wouldn't have been trying to pawn him off on the leafs for the past year

Both sides for the last year on here were talking about a hockey trade for Kap and Murphy straight up, you were probably one of them and both sides also agreed both players were worth a 1st. Now Pens overpaid with a mid 1st plus, but doesn't change that Murphy isn't worth a 1st.

And your rationale to determine he's not good because we wanted to make a hockey trade makes zero sense. If you knew anything outside of the Leafs you would know that the Hawks are deep on the right with Boqvist and Mitchell (who for obvious reasons aren't going anywhere), Koekko, Regula (another good prospect) and Seabrook. Murphy is the most tradeable being a UFA in 2 years and starting to hit his peak at the age of 26. Sometimes try to peel a layer back on the onion and go just a tad deeper in your thought process.

No, i never wanted murphy for cap. And again, just because one player, who is a winger, was traded for a 1st does not mean that a defender is worth one as well even if a bunch of people on a trade forum thought their value was the same, especially if the value before was less than a 1st rounder in a vacuum.
So, Murphy is not worth a 1st.
You're also going off a weird road here and projecting some stuff for some reason, so ill counter that random rant about the hawks defence and onions with this, you can argue all you want about it not being worth the hawks to move him for less than a first, but that doesnt make his external value to other teams a 1st.

Actually Montour got 29 OA and a B-prospect and im seeing Montour and Murphy in the same quality park....so 2021 1st TML ( hopefully with finally succesfull D rebuild this off-season they wont land it in the upper half of Draft )...and yes, you for sure would want Murphy on second Pair with Muzzin

Hawks won't move him bottom line and your analysis of what Murphy is worth is absolutely incorrect; he is easily worth a 1st and always has been and it's because of his play. He'd be a first liner on the Leafs easily, and is a 2nd liner on most teams at $3.8M in a flat cap world. Pull your head out of Leafs nation once in awhile and try watching other teams if you want to quantify their player's values because it's apparent you haven't a clue.
