Duchene, Johansen, Turris contracts are pretty much untradable so who does Nashville trade to shake things up?

Idk but if Arvi’s on the table you could get some big offers. Calgary would be super interested for one

Oilers would take Bonino but a Dman like Russell/Larsson/Benning would be the return.

Duchene and Johansen are far from untradeable. Any of Sissons, Bonino, Jarnkrok should get decent returns too.

There's also the possibility of trading one of the top four defencemen. They all have significant trade value, and it might need to be done just for expansion draft considerations. Ekholm, then Ellis would be most likely to get traded, in my opinion. Fabbro and Josi are about the two least likely in their whole system.

8M is too much for basically any team to take on without a bad contract coming back

I'd say Bonino, Johansen, Jarnkrok, Watson, Turris, Ekholm, Grimaldi, and Sissons could all be floated out there by Poile. I think really the only safe names are Forsberg, Arvy, Josi, Ellis, Fabbro, Tolvanen, Tomasino, Rinne, Saros (but could change), and Duchene (because of the recency of his contract)

This is all pretty much accurate. I forgot about Grimaldi. It would take a pretty massive offer to convince Poile, but I do think Ellis could be moved if the right package comes along.

There's next to no chance they get traded without some salary coming back in the deal, but that doesn't mean they have to take a bad contract back. There are enough teams that need a 1B/2A center, that there'd be interest in either of them. Like @villenash said, it probably won't be Duchene, due to how recently he signed in NSH.

It would definitely need to be a massive offer. The RHD after Ellis, even with Fabbro, isn't pretty...

I'm sure I could find a few hundred Johnsson/Kerfoot/Holl/Engvall/Dermott offers on here for him to choose from. 50% retained on Ellis naturally, because he'll be 30 one day and he's too short wink

Jets would 100% be interested but doubt NSH wants to trade to a division rival lol.

Would they be able to make the money work in a year when Laine needs 8M+ ?

If little hits LTIR yes, if they made a trade with NSH for Johansen, you’d see some cap going back (perreault or whoever) and then you’d probably see a guy like Connor or Laine dealt to a team needing wingers for a top 4 dman. The $ would work, just not sure what NSH would want for johansen

David Poile's never been hesitant to trade in-division (Turris/Girard w COL, Hartman from CHI, Granlund/Fiala w MIN). How well he's done on those trades is another story, but.... yeah. I don't know what WPG could offer that makes sense for both sides though.

Didn’t even think of that! Yeah I’m almost sure what NSH would be looking for in return for Johansen but they’d be interested.

Interesting thought: Who'd you rather have -- Duchene, Johansen and Turris or Matthews, Tavares and Spezza?

I offered Tyson Jost, Nikita Zadorov and Colorado's 2020 fourth for Nick Bonino and Nashville's 2020 second in my last team post, but no Nashville fans responded.

My thoughts:

Should but probably won't Trade:
Jarnkrok
Bonino
Sissons
Ekholm

Will Try to trade but can't:
Turris
