Wild are shopping Dumba

Created by: Steinthekid
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 6, 2020
Published: Sep. 6, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Johnson being added to the trade as well does one of two things. It offsets the Rask going to PGH side of things OR it is used by Minnesota to ensure that Seattle takes him in the expansion draft. Vice versa if Rask doesn't work out in PGH he gets exposed for Seattle.

If that’s the offer, Toronto can do better.

Its probably not the worst trade in terms of value, but I think Minny is going to want more quality> quantity

The Wild are are rebuilding chief. If you still are under the impression they are ready to compete now or are getting a top 6 Center right now? Yikes.

That's what our GM has wanted for Brodin or Dumba stemming all the way back to the trade deadline

Their actions are saying they are rebuilding. You tried to shop Parise that fell through at the deadline, multiple rumors of shopping Suter nothing has materialized as of yet. You traded a top 6 wing for what was basically a first round pick in 2021, a cap dump to make it work, and a future NHL Dman. Now after the year he had your looking per reports, to dump Dubnyk and hey what do you know Murray has been linked to your team. And given that your GM values him highly from his time in PGH well that is where rhe majority of your value comes from. Plus if you want to go with the "There just looking to make cap room!" Argument your dumping 10m in cap space. Bringing back 7.1 with 0 retention and one of them becomes an asset that either you can keep or flip. Not to mention a guy with middle 6 wing potential in McCann in the deal above that your team can either keep or trade. Your team isn't in "win-now" mode. If it was, it wouldn't have tried to trade Zucker for a year and then settled on dumping him for less then a top 6 winger return.

Given your team has been trying to dump Rask for about a year, not really he brings down value. And your GM is high on MMand your trying to dump Dubnyk, Then you get Bjugstad to take 4.1m off the books or flip at seasons end. If you want to talk about Johnson being removed from the trade I can understand that but everything else value wise makes sense.

Even IF the Wild were rebuilding, your package does nothing to help a rebuilding team

Minn is rebuilding. They want assets.
Pit has Poulin Legare. JPO.
Then trade Murray/ McCann and use that return to get Dumba.

So trade would look like

Pit gets Dumba.
Minn gets JPO, Poulin, Legare, plus return from Murray McCann trade

> Asset to flip in Bjugstad which comes with taking 4m off the books for beyond 2021
> Murray a goalie that your GM values highly for the future thats also young
> A middle Six wing that helps in the intermediate to future or that can be further flipped

Flip your own scraps first, then come back and try again

But nothing in this trade help Minny with the rebuild or now.
