Not is Seabs is going on LITR we don't accept as we can do that just as easily and we have zero need for Johnsson and his $3.4M cap hit.

Either way its a horrible deal for the Islanders. There is not one piece of that deal that entices them to move Pulock. Its a nice collection of pieces, none of which help the Islanders right now.

Disagree on that Foligno trade. A 1st is nice and all, but it's for a weaker draft than this year's and for a meh prospect.

I'd rather keep the guy who's one of two candidates to be the next captain post Koivu. It'd take a overpay with at least a 2nd in this years draft plus a meh prospect or a 3rd in this years draft with a quality prospect coming back.

Johnsson isnt terrible, and we could probably trade him for something while also ridding ourselves of Seabs contract. If the price is to retain 1 mil per year then its fine imo. But this ACGM isnt serious and no one will trade for seabs especially a team like TOR who is in the same cap trouble we are. I also dont think Seabs will be ltir and he will want to play anyway.

Johnsson is bad. Take a look at his advanced stats away from Matthews and Marner, they are terrible. Then take into account a $3.4M cap hit for a guy coming off of a pretty bad knee injury that required surgery, not easy for hockey players to return to form from. If the intent is to flip Johnsson, don't you think Dubas has tried to move him? Clearly he probably would have preferred to move Johnsson over Kapanen given the Leafs have plenty of guys on the LW to step in.

We don't want Johnsson, we would be eating some his cap hit to trade him for a 3rd or 4th.

It's too bad you can't read what I said and if you did, you don't have a clue what YOU are talking about. Look at his advanced stats AWAY FROM Matthews and Marner. I'll give you a hint, that website doesn't do it, this will help educate you. Here's his stats away from Matthews (take away Matthews and the guy puts up 2 goals and 4 points in 43 games) and you can also switch Matthews and show him away from Marner.

https://www.naturalstattrick.com/linestats.php?fromseason=20192020&thruseason=20192020&stype=2&sit=5v5&score=all&rate=n&team=TOR&vteam=ALL&view=wowy&loc=B&gpfilt=none&fd=2019-10-02&td=2020-04-04&tgp=2000&strict=incl&p1=8477341&p2=8479318&p3=0&p4=0&p5=0

AJ was literally the 4th most helped player in the entire NHL. The order goes Zach Kassian 1st, tied for 2nd is McDavid/Draisaitl which is obviously because they were helping each other be the most dominant line in all of hockey...Kassian just happened to be there. And then the 1st NON-Oiler is non other than AJ. NOT ONE single player outside EDM's top line received more help than Andreas Johnsson. Here's how you run an analysis.

https://public.tableau.com/profile/bill.comeau#!/vizhome/SKATR2019-2020/SKATR

Johnsson is not very good period and now he's coming off a bad knee inury. He's simply not worth much at $3.4M and teams run these advanced analytics to see plain as day he's overpaid.

So yes, I do know what I'm talking about

Such a shame you’ll never understand how hockey works, for a game you probably love it will bring you so little joy looking at it through you’re microscope 🔬

@exo2769 this kid needs some help exo, just another Leafs fan thinking Johnsson is great

I and others have been saying Johnsson isn't that good since the minute the Leafs signed him to that deal a year ago. Exo2769 was kind enough to point out our eyes weren't wrong watching him and ran the advanced stats and analytics that proves he's not very good. But hey kid, you know hockey so well that we are all wrong and the stats and analytics behind Johnsson showing he indeed relies on Matthews and Marner to make him a somewhat capable player are just BS! LMAO

Yeah.... Here's the thing with AJ. he's terrible. Can he turn into a better player. Yeah I suppose everyone has a chance at that. He does play with Matthews and Nylandder 86% of the time. It's like Zack Kassian. Does anyone wonder why he had career numbers last year while only playing 59 games. No, literally no one wonders because he played 50% of the season on a line with McDavid AND Draisaitl. You're going to get inflated stats when that happens. So when you're literally the 4th most assisted player in the entire NHL like AJ was....you're going to get inflated stats...or in AJ's case still suck.

Just bc his numbers are inflated cause he played with elite talent does not mean he is a bad player. Bad players are unable to play with elite talent and have results. Why shouldn’t we pay under 3.5 for a LW who can play with Matthews?

So I don't actually think he's a terrible player. I really just think his WAY over paid and never deserved that contract to begin with. You don't spend cap on excess parts/pieces. I do think he's the defenition of a cap dump. Just about any ELC can do what he's done. We're about to see Robertson do it too.

Kassian is a good comparable. No one's giving him $3.4M. PIT's Dominik Simon is another good example. Imagine him getting a $3.4M contract. That's crazy talk. He's played half his career next to Sydney Crosby. PIT is going to plug in a different fringe AHLer/NHLer and Crosby will be amazing because he's Crosby. AJ plays next to Auston Matthews AND William Nylander. Don't waste cap space on a guy that's required to be next to a #1 OA pick in order to be productive.

Dubas sure got a heck of a trade for KK. Certainly more than I thought. You could very well be correct.
