That’s being gracious. Only thing that could save this tandem is Campbell starting 70+ games.

Yup, but if Jones bounced back and proved the problem was the sharks D play and positioning, and not him this would be a slam dunk steal

i said it in the last post where they traded for jones. he hasnt put up a sv% above .915 in the past 4 years. Hes had a sub .900 sv% for 2 years in a row. The sharks were a good team 2 years ago and he still put up very middling numbers. If you want a comparison, craig anderson on the sens the past 2 years has a higher save percentage. It is unlikely he bounces back even to league average much less a good starting goalie. Add in the fact hes signed for 4 more years and its a complete loss for the leafs if they bring him in

So......If the problem for Jones is the Defense,

you're gonna move him to Toronto, which is historically known for giving up quality chances and odd man breaks.

I not really following this logic here

Pete Debor our old coach has the worst D positioning and defensive alignments he was jot a good coach he backed his success on the high quality players making up for his shortcomings, and we have a goalie coach who was trying to make Jones Play to his weaknesses rather than his strengths which was stupid. the new coach Boughner came in mid season and put Nabokov as his goalie coach, he pulled Jones and worked with him for 2 months to refine his game and focus on his strengths, when they started playing him again he was a different goalie putting up a 907 over the last 10 games with a really depleted team in front of him.
Just look at Jones last 5 years 918, 912, 915, 896, 896.
Both 896 seasons where with a bad goalie coach and bad D alignment due to us picking up Karlsson (funny how a good goalie puts up back to back horrible seasons in the two years we have Karlsson)
Honestly he is/was good goalie playing in a bad system. He will be better this year I’d say 907-912 S% this season with the sharks or whoever he plays with.

No I feel you on that end, you guys would be better set with a guy like Allen! A Montreal trade for him would be smart for you guys.
I’m just defending jones which I hate cause I don’t like him.... but I see the problem is way more the team and the system than the guy. That’s why I like that Pete is in Las Vegas and not with us anymore

if it werent for the fact that deboer took the sharks to the cup finals, conference finals and is currently in the confernece finals with the knights id take your word for it. To me, jones has shown not a single sign over the past 2 years that he can become a true starter again

This post is excellent and a good read for those just using stats and occasional viewing to judge Jones.

The 2 things Jones needs the most is:

- Solid defense in front of him
- Sheltered minutes

I'm not sure a trade to Toronto gets him any of those things.

Funny thing every time hes been to the finals or cup it was first season with the team! He finds great opportunities everywhere he goes
