Remember that Gaudreau’s value has gone down because of his poor play in the playoffs. Analytics wise, this would be a bad trade for Calgary. Emotional impact wise, this would be a great trade for Calgary. Domi adds punch and Gallagher adds secondary scoring plus playoff experience. Calgary accepts.

Calgary is not trading their best player, their best prospect and the very solid Mangiapane for a package that does not include a bonafide number 1 NHL Centre. Calgary easily declines this.
