Major Retool

Created by: jempey82
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 5, 2020
Published: Sep. 7, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Balanced depth in the bottom 6 with some solid veteran presence and a bit of edge.

Not 100% Sold on Hamonic due to past injury problems. But if he can stay healthy he is a solid top 4 guy and a definite upgrade from last years D. Sekera provides a veteran depth guy that can play minutes with a young D in Liljegren, plus it allows Sandin the chance to play games as well. His playoff experience will also be beneficial.

I’m not personally a fan of trading Andersen, but you are going to have to pay him after next season and that might not work out. If you can get Kuemper for 2 years and if it works extend him if not you have that cap space later. (Note it was hard to find value for him in a deal, without a clear trade comp)

Not when you consider McGinn is a UFA. No way Leafs trade Andersen for a 3rd and 1 year of McGinn. Andersen is still a better than solid Goaltender

Yeah that’s a base of a deal type situation. That said Dermott is still relatively unproven as more than a third pair guy. So anything that is an add on Cousins wouldn’t be that much. Cousins is a solid depth player than can chip in a little offence if needed and play solid and reliable bottom six minutes with edge and physicality.
