And lots of unrealistic UFA signings.

If you're wondering, Hershey's defensive pairings landed at: Sekera-Alexeyev, Fehervary-Heed, Nardella-Schmaltz, Johansen-Ceci. I think they could go pretty far with that.

The Blues have zero need or cap room for this.

Thanks. Last year some Blues fan posted that Kempny's style might fit if he was somehow available. Agree that cap situation is tricky, with Tarasenko injured, and Pietrangelo UFA, not to mention the possibility Bouwmeester comes back.

I had started out trying to build a blockbuster for Tarasenko, and landed on something like Kempny, Leason, 1st, 2nd, but that didn't even seem like enough and I didn't feel like having Caps fans pick apart how far over the Cap I was going with Tank's LTIR cap space, to try to keep Holtby, Dillon, and Gudas. Ah, well.

Bouwmeester isn't coming back, and I'd rather keep Kostin

Yeah, you probably saw that before we picked up (and re-signed) Scandella. As for J-Bo, I have to assume he's played his last game.

Yep. Kostin looks like a solid forward prospect.

I'm curious whether the Caps go with Dillon or Kempny to pair with Carlson this year. If they switch to Dillon, they should trade Kempny while his value is high, after he spent most of the year on top pair, and finished +19 with 18 even strength points. Tough to find that kind of production at 2.5M, even if he obviously benefitted from playing with Carlson. Wonder where he'd land.

I'd rather sign him for 2M, sure. It just won't happen.

If the price tag is that expensive why sign him at all? Does a chart or a spreadsheet say to?

Intuition.

edit: this is also my first time posting since they took away the ability to edit UFA prices. I'll try to be more cautious on that. Thanks.
