Description
I REALLY like this mix...

Pateryn is basically a younger and better version of Hainsey. I hate Gudas but think I'd like him on the team I root for... so him and Muzzin should be a good rugged, shut down fit.

And the old man line can mix and match through the year but would be a good third line in the playoffs, that can score.

An .888 and a .904 the last 2 seasons. Toronto would be Quick to regret that trade

As a Kings guy, I'm scratching my head trying to figure out why you're doing this . . .

He's actually played better than those numbers, especially in the winning stretch just before the hiatus (5-0-1 with one shutout), but I still don't understand this idea.

-Quick is horrible. You're going to regret that pretty quick.
-Johnsson's value around here has been around a late 2nd-early 3rd. Pairing him with Engvall (Late round pick), you're getting: 3rd+Foligno (Who I'd argue has the same value as Johnsson)+Pateryn (mid round pick)+Sturm (Mid round pick). It may be nit-picking, but IMO that's an overpay by the Wild, who's biggest need is at C, and have a ton of wingers.
-There's no more conditional draft picks, so you can't tack one onto Freddie.

I think the Kings proposition isn't awful, but it's unlikey they would do it. For the next two years cap hit if Kings do nothing: Carter + Quick = $11M annual vs. Kerfoot + Dermott (plus retained) $8M annual cap hit over the next two years. Which would be great to make 3M in cap space for most teams, but the Kings care nothing for the cap. I think the Kings are fine with Quick being their backup under Campbell while his contract is so low and Carter teaching the kids.

I will say a few things, the 3m in cap space could be put to better use, even if it is just a cap dump so I wouldn’t say it means nothing.

I also thought Blake had no intrest in moving Quick.

Why does Toronto move Johnsson and kerfoot only to take on carter and foligno’s nearly 6m. Not a move that makes much sense to me.

I love this thread so far. All great points/discussion. I think the Quick move would be a big gamble, being that he returns to form, not at a top 5 goalie in the league, but a guy that can make enough stops, win enough games in the regular season and be clutch in the playoffs.

The Foligno/Carter move is about different players vs cap hits. Leafs have top end talent and a bunch of speedy, slick, and smaller wingers. They need heavy grit to mix with their speed in my opinion. AND stronger D.

I think all of kerfoots grit must go unnoticed. He might not be a heavy weight but he can get under the skin of other players. I’m not opposed to bringing in foligno. I’m also not opposed to bringing in Martin or back Clifford. Provided that those two make less than 1m.

Looks solid to me. Issue is the cap. Doesn’t leave much room to sign a Dman. If you start moving forwards you run into the issue of depth. Depth scoring killed us in the play ins. It wasn’t the defence or the goaltending.

Kopitar, Doughty, and Quick aren't being traded. Any trade proposals featuring one of them isn't going to happen, even if the return looks like it makes sense.
