Because you have 10 contracts expiring in the following year including Gallagher, Danault, Kotkaniemi, and Beauvillier who will all want raises.

Isles hold on to Beauvillier even though your trade offer isn't terrible

I don't think isles would trade Beau with an RFA contract for one year of Tatar with a UFA contract. Although the first rounder may play a role if the isles have to trade their bigger cap dumps (Ladd/Boychuk) pending offer sheets to barzy and pulock. If that were to happen i don't know what the isles thoughts would be. Depends on the situation but I don't think this would happen since Beau is a dog right now.

Can’t believe you actually think MTL would offer that. This trade is unrealistic since you guys really want to keep Beau and this is a super overpayment by MTL, which a GM would never offer.

BIG OP... no thanks we keep our First... target Bailey instead and it won't cost you Tatar... maybe a Armia + Kulak as they need to save at least 10-12M to sign Barzy

Hey I too have been thinking Timo would.be a fantastic for us(any team really, haha).
But I don't see Domi as a fit, really.
Couture and Hertl are locks at C. Only thing I can see is loving Hertl to W as hes played plenty in his career.
But I think wed be looking at Domi + 16th overall.

SJ in a weird spot, looking to win now, yet having no 1sts this year. ***Edit, they have TBs 1st.

Except that Bergevin himself said that he would be willing to give up the 16OA pick "pour l'aide immédiate". A top-4 dman and a good young scoring winger seem like immediate help to me. Tatar won't re-sign with us next offseason (he'd be too expensive) so we might as well get something for him now.

Maybe next time I'll send Byron to the Oilers for Alex Chiasson

Bailey 5M
Armia 2.6M + Kulak 1.8M
They don’t save that much
We shouldn’t trades one of our top9 forward outside Domi since we lacked of depth

With Lehky or Armia or Drouin playing on the 4th line... we could clean on spot...
NYI would save 3M moving Bailey for Armia (maybe we can retain 1M if needed)
and Leddy who seems to be a capdump at 5,5M for D-Depth (because they need to filed sweaters) = savings of 2,6M... so 6M saved is not bad and getting good players as well.

Didn't the Sharks acquire a 1st in the Goodrow overpay trade?

I wouldn't be surprised wink

Or to COL for Girard...
Or to DET for Mantha...
🙄

But for real, people need to stop considering Ottawa like a trash bin for bad contracts. Only way Melnik would take on a big contract is if the player is on LTIR because the salary is paid by the insurance, not the team...

No thanks from San Jose - It's not enough value wise and we don't have a lot of need for Domi or Kulak

Beauvillier est un downgrade sur Tatar et Leddy est pire que Chiarot Kulak donc un capdump. On perd le meilleur joueur dans ce deal là et le 16ieme choix overall.

OTT laughs as they decline.

Byron has 3 years term. You either need to retain ~1.4M or give us a pick

My bad...not Drouin... Lehky Armia and BYRON all bottom 6 should be expendable if we insert Bailey IN... and will help NYI on a good defensive team bottom 6 depth
