You aren't getting 15OVR and Johnsson for severson. Try again

Sometimes I wonder if the best thing to do is just go through free agency. The only pieces we have to trade are guys with 1 year left on their contracts and a D man who is getting paid 9 million and we don't even know how effective he will be this year after a long layoff. This time line sucks. Thanks Lou.

Why not? He's the perfect fit to solve their RD issue. People underrate him because he's played for a bad team but he's a solid top 4 defensemen who's pretty good on both ends of the ice. He's also on a reasonable cap hit, which is key given Toronto's issues in staying under the cap now that it's flat. I honestly don't see a better option for Toronto if they want to fix that issue

So Severson is worth Johnsson and the 15OA but Hanafin is only worth the 20OA and a 4th? Also, no way DeMelo signs for that and why pay Blackwood that when he hasn't earned it yet? Your valuations are all over the place. There is absolutely no way the Leafs make that trade.

You went for less with Hanifin who is better. Severson isn’t a great defensive player which is what Toronto needs. Imo the pick stays with Toronto

I think that’s a reasonable deal for leafs. You won’t get much positive responses from leafs fans they seem to think their 3rd liners are worth gold which is an absolute joke.

Exactly, why not just trade Johnsson for a pick and sign DeMelo and Gudas with that money, it makes alot more sense for the buds in terms of what we're looking for.

De Melo will get at least twice that, why would Nosek leave Las Vegas for the same amount of money the Golden Knights will pay him, and why would Miller leave Anaheim when he can get more there if he wants to keep playing?

I'm glad somebody has their eye on the ball, I forgot about Miller signing with NJ when his wife is an actress and he has stated he wants to stay in California. And I missed Nosek in all this madness lol. How have you been?

This is basically Severson for Hannifin. Doesn't really change much.

LOL you want GUDAS? He's basically Ceci but with worse offensive upside. I hope you enjoy losing in round 1, because that's where you'll be again next year with that comical move

We will likely lose in the first round but it would have nothing to do with Gudas. Ceci isn't really good at anything whereas Gudas brings the physical element that the Leafs lack. I'm not saying we get him and no leaf fan would expect any offence from him (we already got that covered) I was simply saying he brings an element that is more useful to us than what Severson brings plus we keep the picks while reallocating Johnsson and Kapanen's money to our D.

Trust me Gudas is not the answer to that problem. He is average defensively speaking and takes way too many penalties to be effective in the physical game. I'd much rather have Severson, a younger, bona fide top 4 defenseman on a bargain of a contract for the next 3 years who can put up 40+ points per season and is at least at the defensive level of Gudas, if not better. He also has the size to be physical.

Perhaps not, I was merely throwing out a suggestion but it could be Hamonic or whomever via FA or we could target Hjalmarsson via trade that would cost us less. I'm not saying Severson is terrible or anything just that he's a two-way d and we need shut down d. Severson and Muzzin would make a great pairing but I wouldn't give up the 15OA to make it happen. We could draft Schneider with that pick while addressing our d problem without giving up so much. I get where you were going with this but I can't see Dubas making this move. Johnsson+ Dermott+ Holl or Holl+15OA or something along those lines would make sense potentially even Liljegren instead of one of those pieces but I think that's about all he'd be willing to give up.
