Not sure why they need to make all of these changes. They are already a very good young team with

I think Buffalo would decline Voracek is getting older and most likely will start declining with a very high cap hit. I’d this did happen PHi would have to take back Ristolainen for cap reasons.

If buffalo declined that, it would be a true indicator that they don’t care about winning. That trade is an awful over payment and that contract to Montour is worse. Even money says that he isn’t qualified as an RFA. While Jake isn’t the best RW in the game, the list above him isn’t super long. He’d walk in as the best RW on the team and a top PP guy.

The only reason buffalo is gun shy is the money they already invested in bad players and terrible overpays. You can always find a way to shed some of that if you’re interested in icing a decent team.

I don’t think a lot of teams want a 31 year old that is making 8.25 for the next 4 years.

Pencil him in for 65-75 pts. Again I have no issue with him on my team and the only reason Buffalo would is because they struck out on every player they have signed past next season except Eichel.

It's an area of need for Buffalo but not the number 1 need which is at center, we could do it but that would be all that we could do- I give you credit for a reasoned trade

I guess Reinhart doesn’t exist, but that’s fine. Skinner will bounce back still led the team in quality chances and played with bad players all year. When they extend Dahlin I’m sure it will work out too.

Reinhert isnt locked up long term yet. Same with Dahlin. I'd take either or both players any day of the week. I'm not knocking those guys. However, the contracts on Okposo, Skinner, Risto, Johansson, and Hutton are not great. The nice thing is you have some flexibility because the majority of the roster is up for renewal this offseason or next and for your sake, hopefully you can shed some of the dead weight.

They really don’t have a lot of cap.
Reinhart, Olofsson, Kahun, Ullmark, Montour, Mittlestadt, Thompson are all RFA’s. Dahlin and Jokiharju will both get big raises next offseason too. They have cap penalties and the owners might want to be significantly under the cap this year.

Niskanen is terrific. Would love to see him back in Washington. But he's turning 34 and the Caps are one summer away from writing new contracts for Ovechkin, Vrana, and Samsonov. Niskanen has two years left on his contract. That's why he was available in the first place.

eta: if he's at 50% retained, maybe? I don't know.

The only dead weight is Okposo. The rest come off after next year and if Risto stays he's gone the year after next. We can get a cheaper 2RW, 8.25 for 4 yrs isn't in the cards for the Sabres. just like 7 for 3 more yrs for JVR. Lots of talk on Philly wanting to dump him.
