Terrible idea to trade Murphy and Nylander for Hyman straight up. Gotta get back a whole lot more than just that

Why trade for Hyman? TOR probably wont be able to afford him after this year and we could just target him in FA.

Did you forget the PIT first in the Toronto trade?

Don’t think Nylander has a ton of value... I altered it slightly but there’s no way Toronto would trade Hyman and a 1st for that package. If they did, I’m with it.

We could probably get the first and a prospect for that package. Nylander doesn’t have a ton of value right now... as much as we wish he did.

I added Dermott to change it slightly but that’s about what we would get. If Dubas would trade Hyman and a first, count me in.

First of all, if you think Nylander doesn't have a lot of value, why would you trade him at all? Would it not make more sense to keep the asset instead of trading him away as a throw in to a deal we are already handedly losing?

Secondly, What's the point of moving our best defensive D man for a guy that has his stats boosted by playing with two superstar centers? It's not like he is young either, he is going to be a UFA next offseason and he won't be someone we hold onto as we continue our retool.

Seems like poor asset management at best, as Hyman doesnt make us better.

I would trade Nylander because I think he’s a bust (just my opinion of course). He’s been given every chance to succeed on the Hawks and hasn’t done a whole lot with the opportunities. I know he’s young and hopefully figures it out, but it’s concerning seeing his play right now alongside Kane and looking invisible.

That being said, what is the plan with the Hawks? If we are only holding on to young assets, then we should be moving everyone north of 30. To me, it seems like they are retooling to be a playoff team while Kane and Toews are still here. Hyman is better than Nylander. I understand Murphy is our best defensive D but he has the best contract to move on the backend and we would get a decent package for him. I doubt Murphy resigns with the Hawks and I don’t want another Gustafsson situation at the deadline in 2021 or 2022.

If he’s going to Toronto, I’d much rather get Sandin, Robertson, or Liljegren with a top pick, but Toronto isn’t making that move.
