Yup RFA vs UFA... extension is a must to ensure it's not a dump, otherwise pay Danault $5M and keep him.

I doubt that Columbus would take that package for one of those players, let alone both. For one thing, the Blue Jackets are pretty good on defense, and for another, their primary need is a #2C.

Also we've got a ton of D already and don't need another. We're interested in top-6 scoring forwards, particularly a 2C. Anything short of that isn't going to result in Korpisalo's inclusion in a deal. (Or Texier's, for that matter.)

Cancel the Montreal trade and ship Nuge and a 2nd (2022) and 6th (2021) to CBJ for Korpisalo, Texier, and Anderson.

Make that 2022 2nd the 2020 2nd from CHI and you're in the ballpark, though I think you're more likely to get Savard or Murray than Texier. Especially if you're not getting Chiarot.

But yeah, the picks would probably be worthwhile, addresses both teams problems Edmonton's wingers and bottom 6 scoring, and Columbus' 2C issue.

Savard and Murray would be one-year and out, so it wouldn't be long-term cap issues. And a buyout of Larsson or (less-likely) Klefbom would clear a lot of $ in a hurry. Or one of Klef/Larsson/Russell could be moved separately for other assets.

don't think they want to buyout, they have Sekera for 3 more years and Pouliot for next year still.

I highly doubt they move Klef, but nobody wants larsson or Russel for that much, neither have a huge enough value on their own.
and honestly Savard or Murray as a one and done, they already have it.

I would say, Get Nuge to sign and trade and go back to the 2nd and 6th as you would get term.

The last thing the Jackets would need (or do) would be to give up their all star goaltender on a team friendly contract, and one of their top F prospects (the Jackets have had difficulties scoring) for another Defenceman (they are loaded on Defence at the moment, with at least 10 NHL ready D men and 2 now coming up in Peeke & Berni)

I’m not saying Texier won’t be traded, but I don’t think he’ll be traded for anything that Edmonton could realistically offer. He’s a big part of our future at forward and won’t be traded for a defenceman or (considering the RNH mention above) a rental 2C.
