The Nashville and Chicago trades are brutal for Philly, other than that this is pretty decent

The Konecny-Ekholm swap is an interesting idea. This isn’t that bad. Good job.

Agreed. But that New Jersey deal is terrible for New Jersey as well.

Thanks, its tough. A lot of times people come on here and destroy trades because they value their players more than they are worth. I may have underpaid on 1 or 2 of these but these are good starting points. I felt confident about the Laine trade value.

Wondering what people think of Ekholm trade and Saad trade. Saad only has 1 year left. Getting 2 solid 3rd line level players with a good defensive prospect in Zamula. 2nd rounder on top. I was nervous Chicago fans would rip it apart, but when a player doesn't have term its hard to pay fairly, plus it frees cap for them to make moves elsewhere in case re-signing Saad isn't in their future plans.

I don't mind the Ekholm trade. I think it could work for both teams.

I’d swap Zamula in for Sanheim/Friedman in Laine deal (that should be enough to get him). Frost/Zamula/1st. And nix the Saad deal and Merrill signing.

I disagree. JVR takes an insane amount of unwarranted flack on here. Scratch this season where Philly literally did not have room for him in the lineup and him having a low shooting %, he is a 25+ goal winger with surprisingly high advanced metrics as well. He is a considerably better player than Wood, plus NJ gets a good prospect in Laz and a pick.

That was my thinking. Trading Laz and a mid rounder sweetens the deal, JVR is there for top line minutes, maybe makes more of a difference for that team than he would for Philly. I thought this one was the least likely to get ripped to be honest.

Would Van be able to fit Voracek in? They have a couple big contracts coming up in Q.Hughes and Pettersson.

That was a struggle and something I went back and forth on, but we took Roussel off their hands, and they don't have re-sign Virtanen. So I feel like it almost evens out. They probably can't re-sign Markstrom at this point, but I don't think they should at this point any way.

Long term outlook.

$18M in a flat cap to sign Laine, Saad, Laughton, Hart, and 2 defenseman.

Who's the first out the door then?
annul the Saad trade and they're more than a 1 season team.

I see you took Benn too so yeah that makes it close, would just depend if they go with Demko and a cheaper backup, they would have to want Voracek too obviously, interesting ideas here anyway.

Don't think the Sens or any team wants Ghost at 4.5m. Teams can spend money better and not give up any assets. Much the say with JVR, teams can find better value and not give up any one in a trade
Konecky seems like a long term keeper and is worth more than two year of Ekholm

This was a concern as well. Laughton or Saad probably. But this was a point I didn't consider much until I was complete, it would take some creativity to work some contracts in. Obviously all these aren't gonna happen in one short offseason, but I like bringing up some trades idea for value purposes, and just wanted to attack some of the weaknesses I saw during the playoffs. I feel like they got a little bigger, faster, and then Ekholm brings more consistency than Sanheim, although I'm a Sanheim believer.

True, but not having Saad on the books means 8x 8.5M for Laine, and 5x 4.5M for Hart, 3x 3M for Laughton and $1M each for bottom pairing D.
With Raffl at 1.6 and not commanding a big raise, or letting him walk.

I'm sorry but if your cap hit is 7M per season you shouldn't be getting scratched period.

Saying you literally did not have enough room in the lineup means you had 12 other guys you'd rather play... that's simply unacceptable if your getting 7M.

Why don't teams wanna trade for Jeff Skinner? He's not a bad player...

He's a 40 point player on the wrong side of 30 making 7M for the next 3 seasons. Not to mention he's a defensive liability. I'd need at least a 1st to take him let alone send anything back.

I dig the Ekholm trade TBH from a Nashville perspective. Konecny is the type of return i'd really want from trading Ekholm. I am worried that Nashville is really trending to having alot of smaller wingers but i like Konecny's skillset.
