Traded anywhere that he’d waive. He no longer fits the team and I have no clue what to do with him.

Mike Vellucci being promoted to the NHL staff makes me believe that PO Joseph is going to get a legit opportunity to play right off the bat and the Riikola extension further complicates the defensive situation.

Where do you think his value is? I know a ton of Vancouver people are super extra with him in terms of value.

No that’s about right value. It’s essentially two 2nd round picks for him.

He’s worth around the same as McCann. This team looks really solid too. Only question is what will it take to get rid of Horny and JJ.

How does Hornqvist not fit this team? Dude still produced at a top 6 rate, is killer on the power play, and routinely finishes with very high defensive metrics. He is still a damn good player. Ditching him for nothing makes no sense.

Oh no like they’ll get a return I just have no idea how to go about trading him with a full NTC.

I think a horny trade will look something like Gudbranson where you get a late pick and a career AHLer. As for JJ god only knows because you have the people who think someone will take him for a pick or you have the people who think it’ll take Poulin or Legare on top of a high draft pick.

My question is why are you trading a productive player for scraps? Look at shot metrics, scoring chances, goal and point production. He is still producing at a 2nd line rate. Why are we moving him for nothing in this proposal? I don't get it.

They’re not trading him for nothing. What I do when I can’t come up with deals is just throw them on placeholder teams. He makes $5.3M to be a powerplay specialist who anchors the third line. Zucker and Guentzel can both play net front better than him. I don’t get what’s so hard to understand here.

Power play specialist? At 5v5 play he had the same amount of Goals as Tavares, Kuznetsov, Svechnikov... He finished 155th in scoring among forwards at 5v5 this season. He is producing at a top 6 rate at 5v5 and on the power play. Trading him for nothing means you have to replace that production.

You replace the production with Kapanen and having Zucker for a full year helps too.

We didn't bring in Kapanen so that we could trade away Hornqvist, we brough in Kapanen to add to our depth. By trading away Hornqvist we deplete that depth again. It serves no purpose.
