Not trying to be mean or rude, just being real with you: that BUFF trade is one of the worst I've seen here in a while. And I'm a Blues fan that has to put up with endless Parayko abominations.

It's baaaad, man. Would you give up Jokiharju for that if he was already a Canuck?

Jokiharju is good, sure. But he's a good 2nd pairing guy on a terrible team right now. His offensive ceiling at the pro level is up for debate and imo he'll grow into a 3/4 guy on a contender. Buff still has three RHD without him, and will be getting back a 4th in Stecher. Gaudette is young but is already an offensive 3C and will be sort of in the same position as Jokiharju, he'll play up the lineup on a bad team. If the pick needs an upgrade to a 2nd then go for it.

For reference, Gaudette put up 33pts in 59 games (0.5ppg) with a revolving door of linemates that include Roussel, Sutter, MacEwan, Eriksson, and Virtanen. Not exactly what you'd call offensively gifted players (the obvious exception being Virtanen on the nights he decides to turn his brain on). If I'm not mistaken, that would be second on the Sabers center core, and tied 3rd out of all forwards. I think he could be a boost both 5on5 and for a 20th ranked PP where he had just as many PP points as Reinhart.

I'd say it's about filling holes. Canucks need a more defensively minded D on a good contract whereas the Sabers need someone down the middle with an offensive touch

Buffalo has zero reason to trade Joki and has no one to replace him. They are not going to move Joki in any deal that would make sense for the other team as well.

Terrible for the Canucks

Boeser was our 2nd best forward this year after Petey.
If he can improve his shot selection, hes easily a top 25 winger in the NHL

Dahlin and Joki are who the Sabres will build their D around, I think any of the others can be had in a trade that makes sense for the Sabres.

Yeah, i think thats the goal. Move one of the other d and see what you can get. I dont love jokiharju as much as some, but he isnt the one i would move.

Joker is young and has room to grow (talent wise) where the other you know what you have or are getting

Honestly, weve seen enough stories about guys leaving buffalo and playing very well, i expect that we get burned if we move ristolainen and/or montour. Both have talent, both have been used poorly for different reasons here. Montour under housley made a lot more sense than montour under krueger.

You're right but somebody has to go IMO it's Montour as you said he doesn't make sense under Krueger. I said in another ACGM I don't think Risto goes and if he did and went to a team like the NYI it'd be seen he's not as bad as people say he is.
