Ottawa has 2 goalies on 1-Way contracts that are capable enough to compete for starting spots. Ottawa isn't really in a position to compete for the next year themselves so trading 1st's in a deep draft, to a divisional rival, for a veteran goalie is ludicrous. Trading a 1st for a goalie who's a UFA next year makes little sense, as well. "Oh but you can just trade him at the deadline for mor assets!" No, UFA goalies go for pennies at the deadline unless they are having a ridiculously good year. "But, Andersen is good!" So, why are you trading him? "Andersen is better than any goalie you have!" No argument so you got me here. that's just statistical fact. No where near the price of a 1st round pick.

leafs arent going to be restocking the cuboard. The leafs have the big 4, rielly, muzzin, etc and should be in a win now mode not restock mode. out of all the prospects (Sandin + Korshkov + Abruzze + Abramov + Robertson) will be the ones they keep while the rest trade bait.
