Granlund

Description
I've read on The Athletic about the Pens moving on from McCann and Bjugstad.

What about Granlund for the answer at 3C? He's a struggling defensive forward with 50-60 upside who's just a hair under 30. He's miles better than Bjugstad and it allows us to have more solidity at C and a guy who can slot into the top 6 if an injury occurs to our wingers or Sid/Geno.

I don't think he comes cheap. Probably around 4.75-5.5 mil for a 4 year deal. But honestly, if you want the window to stay open for the next 2 years, you need a good player like him in your bottom 6.

I have Jarry at 2 million as he still hasn't had a full season at starter. Murray got 3.5 mil after winning a stanley cup.

If Grubauer is hurt and will miss the start of the season sure.....if hes healthy I dont think there is any incentive for Avs to be trading assets on goalies
the deals fine but the logic behind the deal still doesnt add up for the avs.

Murray int an upgrade in net, hes a bigger risk with a bigger price tag

Completely agree. I still think trading for Murray would be an overreaction by the Avs. Murray and Grubauer are pretty much equal

it would be an over reaction. I know its a pretty easy speculation link for Murray to the Avs to fill some air time and articles, but as it stands Avs goalies were good just unhealthy and are still under contract for next season. Murray isnt an upgrade that would justify them to shift the net and eat into valuable cap space

Avs should explore the goalie market for a clear upgrade that fits their price tag but they arent forced to make a move from what we know right now, fully expect both goalies to be healthy to start next season so they arent forced to making a move this offseason

Murray is young RFA and just needs some injury luck. Two time champ. People are undervaluing him. Not sure Avs are best fit but he's got value.

Don't mind granlund at all as 3C

I think upgrading your offence would make you an even bigger threat considering you still have loads of cap space.
I like your D and Byram + Timmins coming up is gonna be huge for you guys.

A 2nd line winger would he the target or a true 3c, compher is fine by can be upgraded and bellemare shouldn’t be leaned on as much for defensive draws. Those are the upgrades they easily can do

Goalie upgrades are not off the table but only meaningful ones, lateral moves in net won’t solve anything

Granlund doesn’t really play C though. The 3rd line centers I see as UFAs that may be worth a damn would be Haula, Koivu, and I think that’s it lol. Or we could let Teddy take the next step and making our 3B line our 3A line and pickup a guy like Richardson for the 4th line C.
