weaponize the cap space

Created by: MelonVK

Description
Basically gives these teams room to sign their players or free agents. I think the move is to do something like this, and then trade of everything not nailed to the floor at the next TDL. I assume they'll sign Krug regardless. You want your useful and good players signed to decent contracts, not today, but in 3 years or so.

We don't need to move Alzner therefore we are not giving up assets.

No to Winnipeg, no to cbj. Terrible for wings.

Habs trade I guess I'd do, but doesn't make much sense, edm is fine.

No to frolik

To long for Krug. I wouldn't go above 5 years at 6. If he wants more he can sign somewhere else

That’s a no from Columbus. Nash is better for his role then adding a massively overpaid Filippula is.

It's not a bad offer tho, if Bergevin thinks he'll need cap space, I could see him agreeing with this trade

No the offer is not bad at all, I just don't see MB thinking he needs the space.

Winnipeg has tons of space for Frenchies last year. Zero reason to move him. He’s also not really a cap dump as he’s still a serviceable B6 player who is just overpaid by about 1.5M.
Target Chicago, Isles or Arizona

Imo that’s not enough for us to take Alzner.

You get a decent prospect for 2 years of Alzner in the AHL ( you’re saving about what 1M I think ), but MTL doesn’t need to trade him for now. We can just keep him in the minors. St-Louis 2nd vs Alzner is more realistic than adding Nemeth who as value

Alzner and a first for a roll of tape is more realistic.

Seeing as people disagree in different directions on a bunch of these trades I'm pretty happy with the evaluation of them

MTL aren’t the one calling to trade Alzner since we don’t have a problem with him playing in the AHL
