Leafs Veteran additions and a blockbuster

Created by: BigAnderson
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 9, 2020
Published: Sep. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Brought back Spezza, and signed Martin, Simmonds, and Thornton to help fill out bottom 6. I’m not a big fan of trading Nylander, there are a small number of Defenseman I’d consider to varying degrees. Went with Canes because I’d love to get Dougie, they’ve been one of the rumoured teams to be interested in Andersen, and they lack consistency in scoring outside of their top line.
Also traded for Anderson because just love the kid and think he could be a poor mans Tom Wilson

Doesn't Reimer have PTSD from his first stint at Toronto media? Goaltending is so bad you might as well play Ayers.
chaserice liked this.

Carolina isn't trading Hamilton unless he refuses to play in Carolina for some reason or wants more money than any defenseman should have (which he wouldn't get traded until later in the year

Always liked Reimer in TO but really only added him because if Canes bring in a goalie, they have to move out a goalie and they’d be more likely to want to move the more expensive of the two. Either one would be more of a throw in, could just as easily not take either and find a different guy to tandem with Campbell

Definitely could be right. My guess his number doesn’t go lower than 9 on his next deal. If he’s that untouchable, move onto the Wild to inquire about Brodin

Yeah, I think he gets somewhere in the 8-9M range but Carolina can move nino and then they have enough room for him and svech in 2021

Yeah I think they can get both done but could cripple their depth. If rumours of the Blues & Petro negotiations are true maybe Leafs can get into running for him if he makes it to free agency, then look at moving guys out for prospects/ picks to overstock cupboards with cheap talent.
