You really think you can get Eichel without Couturier?

I don't know why you'd want that if you're Buffalo. He could walk in 2 years and would massively, and I mean MASSIVELY subtract the rest of the package

Even by Eichels standards that's an insidious overpay

I think a little bit would have to be subtracted from the rest of the offer but that makes sense

I wouldn't pay that price - but I think those would be the pieces they would be interested in. Top 6 C, good bottom 6 player, good prospect, top 4 d, 1st

Honestly, it's a competitive offer. Nice work. Would depend on other offers but this would get you in the conversation. Buffalo doesn't need Ratcliffe though. Buffalo is pretty deep at LW so maybe Allison or Brink instead.

Oh yeah definitely, the offers for guys like eichel on here are insane. No gm is gonna offer that kinda package.

That would be a manageable move. Obviously things would have to go near perfect for this to happen, but I thought I'd be a fun thing to try to lay out haha

I think your big misconception is Couturiers value. He isn't a run of the mill top 6 C, he's a top 15, arguably top 10 Center in hockey. If Hayes were to somehow wave his NMC I could see that working, but Couturier is not the piece thrown in there

One of the better efforts on here. Usually it's a 1st round pick, an aging player, and a B prospect.

I think Couturier is a fantastic player that has a killer contract, but I don't see a deal with PHI without Couturier going the other way -- now the pieces I laid out don't all need to be in the deal, but I can't see BUF trading Eichel to PHI without Couturier involved. I don't know if all of the pieces I put out would necessarily be in a final deal, but that's where BUF would be starting I think. They have no need to trade Eichel as he is one of the best players in the NHL so they would start out asking for an overpay to even get them to the table.

As far as top centers in the league -- Crosby, MacKinnon, Eichel, Point, Bergeron, Malkin, Petterson, Draisaitl, Barzal, Tavares, Scheifele, Matthews, McDavid, Barkov, Zibanajed, Aho, Stamkos -- that's 17 centers I would probably rank ahead of Couturier. Granted, age is catching up to some of them -- but I think these players are superior centers to Couturier right now. Though I do think Couturier still has a bit of room to grow, he is not very close to being a top 10 center in the league -- he'd fall in the 15-20 range I think. Eichel on the other hand is on the list of best players in the NHL.

I agree, gotta be other pieces to get from Philly with more control then Couturier, unless Buffalo was going to flip him again for more assets then I don't see what Couturier does for Buffalo, replaces Eichel at 1C for a couple years and then what.

Ehh, it's probably not saying much coming from a Flyers fan, but I guess that's where the agree to disagree with a lot of those guys being better than Couturier comes into play. I think as Coots currently stands he's better than probably about 6 or 7 of the guys you mentioned. Obviously the important part is that Eichel definitely is better, younger, and on contract longer

When you consider long-term value the list is even more condensed. In no particular order: Eichel, McDavid, Mackinnon, Petterson, Barzal, Matthews, Point, Draisaitl. The rest of the top centers in the game are getting older and their value is diminishing. These players are top level now and still have room to improve.
