Sabres should reject that. But I could see them doing it.

Aside from getting Laine these trades are pretty bad for the Pens as well....

-Risto is the young Jack Johnson. He's not 1/8th the player Letang is and he takes his place.
-Jarry is overpaid
-I'm not a Sheary hater, but he doesn't help the Pens.
-They'd have no third line center which is a problem.

You’re joking? Right? The buffalo trade is awful for Pittsburgh, and so is the Edmonton one.

The only trade bad for the other team is Winnipeg

Sabres should accept anyone willing to take that garbage player and give back something of value.

Penguins should absolutely not make that trade.

I'm amazed by the fact that so many people still don't realize Ristolainen is terrible.

There are also a lot of Sabres fans that somehow think Mittlestadt and Thompson are going to be decent NHL players. Oof.

This is a big yikes! The WPG deal isn’t bad value wise for the pens, but it takes from a position of weakness to strengthen another weakness. And defense isn’t where you want to become extremely weak. Keeping Jack Johnson and swapping Letang for Risto would be a nightmare.
Speaking of Risto, that trade is horrendous for the pens.
Giving up Poulin for an unknown just to get rid of Bjugstad is a massive overpay. Pens would be better off buying out Bjugstad or burying him.
No way should the pens trade Hornqvist to a metro rival. Nor should they really trade him to an east team in general. The pens shouldn’t want to be terrorized by him consistently

Puljujarvi for Bjugstad, Poulin

Take Poulin out and Pittsburgh says maybe. With Poulin this isn't even ... just no.

I'm in the middle. I don't see much value in Murray. Not convinced he's an upgrade over Ullmark who will be cheaper so I'd rather just trade Risto for a 2nd or 3rd or a reliable bottom 2 LHD or a reclamation project C or RW. Take your pick.

Still, as I originally said, I could see Buffalo doing this type of deal. I just wouldn't because I don't want Murray.

murray would be a slight upgrade over ullmark but they would be a great 1A, 1B punch. murray would provide the playoff experience that the sabres are greatly lacking and he would provide stability in the net if ullmark goes through a tough stretch. i feel like this is one of the better returns for risto...i don’t love it but it’s something better than usual.
