Description
This trade just popped into my head. Well, not this one exactly. I had thought Hughes/Hischier for Laine, since NJD has 3 1st rounders, so they could pick up another C in the draft and then still have Zacha as well.

This trade fills the couple holes WPG has, down the middle and on the back end, but I’m not sure it the caliber of player(s) they’re wanting to go after. From what I’ve seen (which isn’t much,Zacha is a 3C who could become a 2C, and Severson is top 4 D man with decent offensive upside. That’s why I had thought one of Hughes or Hischier instead.

Anyways, I didn’t do that one, so let me know how this is. Not sure of Zacha or Seversons value, I’m assuming not nearly enough to get Laine, so I added a 1st, but is that even enough??

Unfortunately, the deal is missing a main piece and fills one hole for the Jets while creating a massive hole elsewhere. Winnipeg would say no.

I believe similar iterations of this package have been on here....Severson / Zacha / 1st for Laine. NJD side didn’t want to part with #7 and were willing to give #18 instead. WPG side wanted #7. And never saw anything that was agreeable to both that bridges that gap.

- Severson / Zacha / 7th overall for Laine / [?]
- Severson / Zacha / 18th overall / [?] for Laine

Find acceptable pieces for the missing [?] and there’s your trade.

My guess is the [?] is probably equivalent in value to two 2nd round picks.

If the Jets are dead set in drafting Lundell then it would be a draft time trade.

Severson/Zacha/7th overall and 18th overall/ and maybe Foote for Laine and 10th overall.

Might need to move up just in case Minnesota grabs Lundell at 9th

Severson/Zacha/7th/18th/Foote....way, way too much. These conversations are pointless if that is the ask.
