Can't see a 37 year-old Bergeron playing in a top-six role tbh. He'd fit really well on that fourth line in a shutdown role with Coots and RoR though.

Stone absolutely needs to be in that lineup and Doughty absolutely needs to be out of it.

Thats very fair!
I just hate seeing people without him on the team at all tho, like age is less a factor for a player of his type (smarts and vision) vs guys like Mcdavid who are gonna drop quickly when they hit their 35+ years (speed and agility)

parayko, letang, weber, rielly>doughty

Disagree with Letang & Weber, maybe Parayko gets there and I think Doughty is better defensively then Rielly.

Only kept him there to keep the Marchand - Crosby - Berg line going since they have been very good.

Was going to have him over Tavares but was too lazy to Create a player.

I still think being able to keep up with an ever-increasing NHL pace has considerable merit. I suspect Bergeron is among a small group of players that will see NHL icetime into their early 40s over the next decade or so: I think the game becoming faster and much more skill-oriented is going to force a lot of earlier retirements.

I don't think there are going to be enough advancements in the actual materials engineering and sports science sides to sustain league-average players playing past the age of 34. In a few years, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a likelihood of a large, professional senior league that many of these guys are going to wind up in after their 10ish years of NHL playing time. There's only so many scouting and/or management roles available from the junior level to professional level. How many of these guys are ready to be out of professional hockey by their early-to-mid thirties?

Times are a changin, but as of rn Bergy should be a 4th liner on team canada at the lowest (if not keeping him and marchy together for fun

I agree that Rielly comes in for Doughty, but Rielly - Makar isn't the best mix imo. Both a bit weaker on the D side. I'd go Chabot - Petro, Rielly - Hamilton, Theodore - Makar
