WPG really only has two solid defenseman in Morrissey and Pionk. They get a top 4 dman and give up a top 6 forward and a bottom six depth player.

Valuation of OEL aside, Ehlers is a legit 1st liner, and WPG's best and most valuable winger, if not forward as well, and Copp is their best defensive forward and a very good 3C, and while yes, they need defensemen, they also need good team defense, and Ehlers and Copp are their 2 best defensive forwards, and are both better defensively than OEL

Ehlers was prob the best player on the Jets last year not named Hellebuyck (it was close between him and Scheifele) and is on an amazing contract. OEL has been trending downwards in recent years and that is not a good look when you're only 28-29 and you have a contract with a 8.25M cap hit. It would definitely upgrade our defence a little bit, but not worth giving up Ehlers
