A Mcdavid-Drai-Nuge-Yamamoto-Barrie PP unit would be insane

Oh when reality sets in on Larssons actual worth it’s going to blow people’s minds. A mediocre 3c just doesn’t begin the conversation.

Yamamoto at net-front? Yes, that is insane.

Anyhow, the Edmonton PP was the best the league has seen since the Seventies... I doubt Barrie would make it better.

The bad news: Barrie couldn't handle a 3rd pairing role with Toronto this year, he was the most sheltered of Toronto's top-6 D and still lost his minutes. At 5v5 Matt Benning is far superior... and last I checked, 5v5 was where this team needs to improve the most.

The good news: you only made 3 mistakes relating to Barrie: the AAV, the term, and his position on the depth chart.

If you look at his stats apart from this year, they have been very good. worth the risk of him returning to his Colorado self, but I would be happy with Vatanen instead as well

Barrie has never been able to play above 2nd pairing, both he and Vatanen are empty calories. Fine for teams that need a PP QB that they can shelter at even strength, but that's not what Edmonton needs at all.

Also, Keefe sees Kerfoot as a LW, he had Spezza playing 3C instead of Kerfoot most of the time. I'd be wary of that a bit - at 26 he's never played center full time at the NHL level. And he sucks at faceoffs.

Also, another big reason to get a good 3C is to take some of the defensive and PK pressure off Draisaitl and Nugent-Hopkins, and Kerfoot isn't a great 2-way guy nor does he PK.

Why trade Larsson for someone who can't fill a position of need?
