Just some thoughts

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just a stretch really. Jets don’t usually dip into free agency this much but they have holes to fill and this will get it done.
1. Cody Eakin has a bit of a resurgence after he arrived at the trade deadline so he likely extends to prove himself and .. he’s from Winnipeg.
2. Travis Hamonic is also from Manitoba. He wanted to be closer to his family while with the Isles.
3. Joel Edmundson is from there too. 2019 Stanley Cup Champion.
4. Reimer fills a spot and does not cost much as his salary is low and his signing bonus was already paid. It buys time for younger G’s to develop. And gives Hellebuyck a break. It also clears cap space for the Canes to move a bigger move for a stud UFA G.
5. Pitlick is a solid 4th liner with scoring touch. Plus player.
6. Lewis is a Stanley Cup Champion X 2. Great leadership addition.
7. Rasmus Ristolainen!! Not sure on the reaction from Jets’ Nation. He should produce when paired with a solid shutdown D like JE. It’s a high risk/ high reward move.
I thought about making a move for Domi but I figured they’d ask for a King’s Ransom. Something like Heinola and a higher pick.
Jets still look good cap wise beyond next season so extending Laine will be easy.
I expect Chevy will draft either Anton Lundell or Seth Jarvis at #10. Long term option for 2C.

it’s not reasonable...risto is terrible and nikolaj is phenomenal...the 2021 second doesn’t make up the difference between them...lets dream though and pretend this is realistic

I think Winnipeg would consider Ristolainen for a reasonable price, but they won't overpay as much as in this proposal.

The Reimer deal doesn't make sense either. The Jets can just sign a cheap FA backup rather than give up a couple picks.

ehlers is a top 6 winger if not a first liner. Risto, I don't think he is top 4 at this point. Back to the drawing board

Im not sure the 2.4 million in cap space doesn’t leave a lot for an improvement.

No thanks on Ristolainen... There's no reason to move Ehlers... let alone for a bad defenseman.

He's an offensive defenseman with warts but he isn't some kind of worthless schmuck.

Also Ehlers is very good but he's no phenom

There’s a lot more that Risto has to offer.

There’s no way Carolina moves Pesce for anything less than Laine. Perhaps not straight up mind you but you get the idea.

Just think “Untapped Potential!!” Remember how ROR took off after he was traded away from Buffalo.

I read the description and thought these are such reasonable points. And then I saw the Ehlers trade. Do you hate your own team?

Comparing ROR to him is wild. ROR was already a top 2way guy in buffalo. He had one bad year with one bad reaction, and Sabers panicked. Also it's ironic to compare the two. One was a leading player that analytics people raved about during the early years, and the other is hated by the number people.

Not my team. I also stated that it’s a high risk high reward. You’d be banking on Ristolainen turning it up with a change of scenery.

Maybe the Jets should get more in return but there could be lots of potential for Ristolainen IF he played with a solid stay at home D man that would enable him to jump up in the play.
