Description
meant to give edmonton a third instead of the leafs getting it. Markstrom's deal is 4 years not one but I couldn't change it

Edmonton, I can't see them bringing back Benning, and that team needs to get some depth on their middle six. I think Johnsson could do really well if he is paired with Leon on a line, plus a third round pick would definitely help this deal go through (Except Edmonton cannot draft to save their life)

The Andersen deal is a bit of a stretch but considering Carolina's only need is a starting goalie right now, and maybe another top 6 forward, I think this goes through too. Solely on the fact that:
A. Don Waddell is their GM. If you know hockey history you know this is realistic.
B: Bean is never cracking Carolina's roster, and they have basically chosen Fleury over Bean going forward.
C: The only way they hold onto the 13th pick is if Askarov is sitting there at 13, but I think Minnesota picks him.

Next is the Seth Jones/Nylander Blockbuster. This doesn't sound good at all for Columbus until you realize they need scoring forwards and have a ton of solid defense man. Also remember, this team traded basically all of their draft picks a year ago and they could use some extra prospects and picks going forward with Werenski and PLD.
Jones and Werenski are both UFAs in a couple years, in the same year, and I wouldn't put it past Columbus to make a move like this. Nylander is actually really efficient for his salary, and statistically is one of the better forwards in the league for how much he gets paid.

Philly needs to get more defenseman, especially fast puck moving defenseman. That would be Travis Dermott in a sign-and-trade with Philly for Scott Laughton and a fourth. Laugthon on a contending team is a bottom 6 forward and is also 28, while Dermott is like 22 with some upside. Only reason I would trade Dermott is because Rasmus Sandin is about to be solidifed top 6 D next year.

Next is Alex Kerfoot, a 4th and Petan for Ryan Reaves, who I think Vegas may move on from and Kerfoot could add some speed to this team who looks slow at times. It's a big reason why they're down 2-1 to Dallas right now, that and Dallas' goaltending has been unreal, but Kerfoot is a good, versatile speedy forward for Vegas that has played wing and center. Petan is a guy you can call up if someone gets hurt, and obviously Reaves to toronto because Reaves would add tough physicality to a team that needs it.

Then there is Pierre Engvall, a 2nd, and a 6th for Sam Bennett. Bennett has 1 year left and I don't see them really eyeing on bringing him back. Engvall adds some more goal scoring, also an improved defender and a 2nd and a 6th could add to Calgary's prospect pool which is also looking rough at the moment. And when you consider their core of Monohan, Goudrau (If he is not traded), Tkachuk, Hanifin and Lindholm, they're not old and I'd argue that none of them are in peak form yet. Engvall would match up age wise with that. For the leafs, Bennett is a solid two-way, bottom 6 forward that adds some grit.

I sign Jacob Markstrom and I think this is easy to understand. Markstrom is not going back to Vancouver. I cannot see him signing a one or two year deal just to split starts with Demko. He wants longevity and to be on a contender. I think it is mutual between the two.

TVR was injured all of last year for the most part and I think his stock is down especially with the cap not going up. He'd be a reliable 7th D-Man for Toronto if things go south with Sandin or Benning.
Bringing in Wayne Simmonds on a couple year deal because at the bare minimum if he can stay healthy he'll be physical, a strong forechecker, and a good penalty killer.

Lol yeah you got all the brains- every team says no, if you are only going to give TD one year, you can just pay his qualifying, and Markström gets more than that plus term. Genius level stuff bud.

This is funny.
Also funny that you lay into Dubas and back it up by sounding really (not smart)

Columbus doesn’t even consider this... the only player we’d have any interest in moving Jones for would be a deal with Matthews involved.

No way in hell Calgary turns down that offer.
You can argue Philly, but they need D-Man.
Carolina is desperate for a number one goalie, and their GM is Don Waddell
Columbus is a stretch and that probably needs another first in there
Edmonton takes that deal every day. Johnsson and a third for a guy they probably are going to have a tough time re-signing with guys like Nurse, Bear stepping up and a need for forward depth, I could see it

Strange evaluation that PHI needs a defenseman, especially a fast puck moving one, like Dermott?

Just not sure if you've seen Phillys defense or watched Dermott play, because Dermott is not a fast puck rusher and PHI doesn't lack fast puck rushers

PHI has Ghost, Provorov, Sanheim, Myers and Niskanen all who can skate very well and far outscored Dermott (even stay at home slower guys like Hagg and Braun produced more pts than Dermott). Along with Wylie, Hogberg, Zamula in minors and Cam York in juniors, if anything PHI lacks crease clearers and stay at home guys, (which is why Ghost was scratched in the playoffs and Hagg played).
PHI doesn't need another kid, they need a solid veteran crease clearer, like an Andy Greene, as they are very young on defense with 4 of 6 starters under 25 yrs old, and Ghost just 27.
Also PHI lacks RD, not LD, and while I like Dermott and his age, I don't think PHI has any interest in another LD, especially a young guy. (and if dermott could play RD, the Leafs wouldn't be moving him)

Considering he scored just 9 less points in 20 less games than Kapanen, plays all 3 positions, wins faceoffs, plays feisty and physical 2 way play, I think he has a lot more value than Dermott. Dermott is a nice young guy, but he's no point producer, crease clearer, veteran and is under sized, PHI will have him but I'm not sure they give up Laughton without TOR adding more. A 3rd?

Canes didn't choose Fleury over Bean. Bean is younger and is not being rushed into NHL.
Anderson has ONE year remaining on his contract.
If Canes want to upgrade in net, they could try to sign UFAs who are much better than Anderson.
Waddell actually has been solid in Carolina.

carolina has been playing fleury in the lineup consistently the entire season. and when you consider that carolina went out and snagged Skjei and Vatanen at the deadline, assuming they re sing vatanen, they're pretty much set with their pairings for years to come.
That's why I think Bean's time in Toronto is up. It could just be a 1 for 1 with Bean and Andersen, but knowing Dubas, he'd probably find a way to squeeze a first out of carolina as well
