There is no good answer to that question.

That Burns contract could likely end up being a bottom 5 contract in the league at literally any moment at this point, acquiring him is a BAD idea

Yep I'm a huge Burns fan, but his age and that contract, won't look good in a couple of years.

I guess Montreal doesn't want a player with size and some speed to score goals.

Because if JVR was a UFA this offseason he'd get less than 3 years for $6 million per? You might get him for $5 million per for 5 years now. $1 million difference in value, but let's use the word horrendous to feed your phony internet rage.

Let's not pretend the Voracek deal is any better. Burns is one of the best and most fit athletes in the league. Guarantee he looks better at the end of his deal than Voracek at the end of his (even factoring in fewer years left and younger age). Like @PapiShark said above, take out Labanc and maybe there is a deal to be made. Would still have to make another big cap move to make this work or make sense for SJ though so for that reason it is probably a no go.

Lol. Even if that was the case... you’re saying Domi is only worth a second round pick?

And I just said the trade was bad. You seem like the angry one

You have a point on Voracek, but Voracek is younger by 3-4 years, and contract runs out a year earlier than Burns does like you mentioned. Flyers take their chances on that.

I believe I compared JVR's dollar value as a UFA to what his current remaining contract would be in the "horrendous trade" above.

I'm not sure which reading comprehension road you went down that ended up with Domi being worth just a 2nd round pick.

I believe you said the trade was horrendous which is extremely unpleasant, horrifying, or terrible. It's a drama club response to a trade that isn't that far off.

My reading comprehension is fine. You said JVR could get that deal as a UFA. So put yourself in Montreal’s shoes... why not just sign a current UFA to a similar deal and trade Domi for more elsewhere? What is confusing about this? Should we trade Domi for JVR and a second or should we sign Granlund and get better futures for Domi? Easy decision imo. Which is why it is a horrendous trade. I’m sorry if my word use offended your sensitive nature. Enjoy the internet

Find a UFA that is comparable to JVR and sign him to $6million per year for just 3 years. I don't think Granlund signs for that short of a term. 3 years is not a risky acquisition as opposed to the 5 to 6 year deal possibly 7 that Granlund would get. The Flyers can wait for Montreal to shop the UFA market to make this kind of a trade. Just don't be surprised when Domi's value drops after the draft and UFA period begins. We'll see what Domi gets traded for this offseason. It'll end up being horrendous to you. Get back to watching your daytime soaps.

You’re the one that got bent over word usage. I’m good. Yeah I probably poked back after your first response so I’m sorry for my part in it. But if they settle for JVR with a little salary retained and a second round pick, then Bergeron didn’t do a very good job imo
