I don’t think Jersey is moving their goalie, who very well could be their best franchise goaltender not named Brodeur.

Plus I don’t think the value is there, let alone adding Foote and having them take on Neal.

Detroit has no use for a 33 year old Kris Russel making $4 million for another season, And we don't even get the 2nd round pick for 3 more years. Yeah no thanks someone else can take him.

NJ declines since the value isn’t there and I don’t think it makes sense for them to move young pieces.

Why does AA get a raise and multiple years? Gotta be gambling he'll get back to 30 goals? More than likely he takes qualifying offer or KH takes him to team elected arbitration hoping for a 15% discount on $3M. I think KH has that option?

Yah not a fan. Maybe New Jersey will take Neal but it would be like a 7th round pick or something.

AA for Nikita Gusev? Your name says it all, sort of seems to me like you don't like the devils anymore

Just to be different than the other Wings fans that have commented. I'd Detroit give up a 2022 5th for Russel and a 2022 2nd.

I think Detroit could be a landing spot for Russell as he shelters young players and can play Pk. He wouldn’t be bad as a partner with chowloski. However I would structure this different. Maybe Dominic turgeon for Russell, Marody, and a 3rd

And to be honest with you too, I'd take that deal without any salary retention

It is close, but I'd say Bouchard is better prospect. But disagree on Neal. NJD is fine with cap for next two years. That third year (and extra $7 million in cash) for Neal would be deal-breaker.

Neal
Cap Hit: 3 years at $5.75 million
Cash hit: $17.25 million over next 3 years

Subban
Cap Hit: 2 years at $9 million
Cash hit: $10 million over next 2 years

I know they are fine with cap but subban is a absolute liability on the ice Neal still does something not a complete disaster

So Edmonton doesn't retain on Russel? That's fine I'm good with that.

Subban is not a "absolute liability" on the ice. He is not a Norris-caliber, $9 million d-man. More like a $5 million / 2nd pairing guy now. And people love to hate him, the big personality, etc. But the 'Subban is terrible' gets way overblown. He was injured last year, played on really crappy team this team. He is still a fine player.

To the original deal, if you wanted to move Neal and get Foote, I'd say something like....

2020 1st + Neal + Bouchard for Foote
2020 1st + Neal + Bear for Foote

??
I have no idea what you're implying by the last sentence.
I don't know Gusev at all. KH has a big decision with AA. Qualify him and risk a single digit goal scorer eating up too much cap, take him to arbitration and hope for a win or try to trade him to recoup a fraction of what he traded to get him. but then why would team trade when they can gamble he wont be qualified and they can sign him without giving up assets? I don't think Holland lets him walk. If he has to, he signs him for $3M for 1 year. But he wont get a raise and it likely wont be multi year.
