2020-21 NYRangers

Created by: hero9154
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 11, 2020
Published: Sep. 11, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Ideal offseason for the Rangers who are not contending for the cup next season. Trade Strome and Georgiev (if Hank doesn't retire or ask for a trade) for futures, resign Tony DeAngelo prior to the draft. Trade for Cirelli by sending TB the #22 pick in the draft. Bribe Ottawa to take Brendan Smith's contract. Draft Alexis Lafreniere. Sign Jon Merrill as a one year stop gap on the left hand side of the defense. The only issue is potential bonuses carrying over until next seasons cap which. Fingers crossed Hank retires or Staal waives his MNC.

I dont think 22 alone gets Cirelli even with Tampa Cap crunch. Bare minimum is probably a 1st and a 3rd that they would get for an RFA deal if Cirelli signed one. But i cant see that getting it done either.

Rangers could throw in a 3rd since a 1st and 3rd is what it would cost the offer sheet route. But if Tampa wants a first round pick in this years draft (which is strong) they have to trade him before/at the draft. Otherwise he signs an offer sheet and Tampa gets picks in a weak 2021 draft. Personally I think Tampa finds a way to keep him and Serge.

Cirelli finished fourth in the Selke awards (third in first place votes), just behind Couturier, Bergeron and O’Reilly He just turned 23, Do you really think TB settles for a first?

i keep seeing this, if you trade for cirelli's right but still offer him 6+, why wouldnt you just offer sheet him especially since the first alone wouldn't get it

Because there is a chance that another teams offer sheet could be better than yours.

If it takes a first and third then so be it. TB is going to have to make some decisions among him, Serge and Cernak.

but if you have his rights i'd assume u try to lowball it because u can still match the higher offer if it comes to it
