IMO, Hjalmarsson is the only one that the Kings would/should pursue, but I wanted to get others' takes on the article. With Arizona's cap situation, and everything currently going on with their management, I imagine he would be perfectly fine waiving his NMC to get out.

I don't understand what their motivation for Schwartz would be at all. If they don't extend him, he's an expiring UFA and they're a rebuilding team. If they do extend him, he's another long-term contract that he will be most effective at the beginning of, which doesn't make sense considering they likely won't be in contention again until he's in his early thirties.

Not sure why she would leave Leddy out of the article, even if not for that specific return.

She didn't specify a motivation, just that he would look real good next to Kopitar. I presume the idea is that acquiring some top-six wingers would speed up the rebuild and make them contenders faster? By the time he does age out of his usefulness, the Kings will have kids ready to fill those spots.

For Bean I would say an equally good forward prospect with expansion draft exemption or a mid 1st.

Sounds reasonable. I think the Kings would consider that.

Who is considered equally good? Someone like Kupari or Madden? I'm not familiar enough with Bean's potential to judge.

I don't think the Kings would be willing to trade Turcotte or Vilardi, and I don't think they'd be willing to move a winger, but I think guys like Akil Thomas, Tyler Madden, and Rasmus Kupari would be on the table if they felt the need to shore up the LHD pipeline.

For a Top-4 D/PP QB, it would likely cost Vilardi. Maybe not as dramatic given a Byfield draft but Bean is more valuable to the Canes than a surface view may indicate. He’ll likely be the PP2 QB next year and if Dougie’s extension goes south, he could be the main man in another season. He’s had the luxury of ripening on the vine ( a la the old Detroit mindset). The Canes deep D Corps has allowed it but he’s ready to slot in cheaply next season and I think he’s a big part of the master plan.

I can't see the Kings giving up Vilardi for a defenseman. At this juncture, he is the best prospect and only NHL ready top six player in the organization under the age of 25.

They're bigger names I guess and play bigger roles. That said, if they're not trying to give up a lot, Leddy could be a good option

I agree. Lisa's doing a Q&A tomorrow morning. I'll ask her about it.
