Zero chance of Yzerman giving up that much to take on MAF, Either Vegas retains $2 million or they will have to give us good picks and or prospects to move that contract.

What are you guys talking about? Flower has only two years left on his contract, for a team like DET, his cap hit won't impact the team, and he is able to be a true starters shown by his numbers last season (27-16-5, 2.77 GAA, .905 SV%. He's also shown that in new environment he does really well. He looked horrible in PIT but found his way back with VGK. Now he's struggled a little in Vegas so maybe DET would be a could place.

You need to face facts that MAF isn't going to get anything of significace.

Yeah but we are rebuilding, not helping out other team cap problems for free. If vegas wants to pay us to take his enourmas salary then that's fine, if not then you can keep him and struggle through it with 2 goalies making 12-15M a year.

Rebuilding teams like us do not take cap hits to be mildly better during our rebuild, we need assets to take his contract or no deal

I would understand your argument if he had 4 or more years left with the cap hit. I would also understand if DET had a goalie prospect they wanted to develop. But neither are the case. Not to mention some moves are made to create buzz and interest. You are so worried about the cap hit which still leaves you with almost $8 million but being mildly better than last season is big. If you're so worried about the finances, then you should all the improvement you can get. Better team=better attendance (at least in hockey markets which Detroit is).

The owner doesn't care about attendance in a year when we are rebuilding and fans might not be allowed in the stadium anyway. The owner of the wings makes most of his money from little caesars and other investments, this isn't a small market team at all.

As for the team itself they are rebuilding and getting maybe 3-5 more wins means nothing to them, they need assets for the future, that is what the gm and owner cares about. Fleury is going to cost you a lot to dump in a flat cap year with the wings. A first + is what is coming back. There is another option trade him to a team like Edmonton or Calgary that is competitive and going for the cup and you would receive assets back that would help you today and you won't have to dump assets to get rid of him. This is what people aren't understanding, wings are ONLY taking back contracts if they get back assets, it's a flat cap and yzerman is going to weaponize the cap space as best as be can. If your dead set on sending him to us it's probably going to cost you a 2021 1st and Pavel dorofyev. Think about what it costs pitt to dump him to you
