I remember when Pens fans were trading him for 2nd or 3rd round picks without retention.

Good deal for Wild. Take a chance on Bjugstad, half the deal retained, and only for a conditional 7th? If they put him in a good position they could easily flip him at the deadline for more if he improves.

There's so few center on free agency that it's actually a really great trade (plus he's a right handed one)

At only 2m (50% retained) 1 year for a 7th 2021 MIN wins easily

Why not just have him play out the season?

If you are going to retain salary, do it with Jack.

I also remember the responses when fans said it'll take high draft picks and good prospects to dump the injury prone coming off surgery center

A necessary move for Pittsburgh, but I don't think they did well here. Having to eat 50% and getting, effectively, nothing in return is an L imo, though an admittedly a very small one.

Fair trade. PIT gets $2m in cap space, MN takes a chance on a rebound/healthy year for Bjugstad.

The cap works out to just about the same as the Pateryn/Bjugstad swap that both fanbased pretty much agreed on.

To be fair if no retention was involved he'd still wear the Penguins uniform.. It would've taken draft picks for someone to take him without retention. This deal seems like a drop in the ocean right now, you've lost your third line center for nothing and your keeping 2M$ in the books.

The 3rd line center who only played 13 games last year and coming off surgery? That 3rd line center? On the flip side, you could say they lost a injured player the last 2 years and saved $2mill by trading him for nothing

The fact that Pittsburgh had to essentially eat half his salary to make this trade possible is pretty surprising. Nobody wanted this guy, even for free at his 4.1M cap hit. That's for a decent player who albeit is very injury prone, is still a decent player when he does play. Very surprised.

I've now shown up several times but at this point I am starting to loose internal organs and blood because I just found out that the *Conditions are: IF Bjustad plays in 70 games or registers 35 points, the Penguins will get a 2021 7th round pick. If not, no pick is moved. AGAIN, the Penguins also retain 50% of his Nick's salary. BARF!!!

Either, his injuries are SO BAD and SO SEVERE that the Penguins feel bad and are sending him home to Minnesota so he can live and be paid and then just retire and call it a day. Who knows at this point but we are NOT even guaranteed the 7th round pick in this deal. Mindnumbing!

Hahahahaha. Remember when GR was a halfway decent GM 6 years ago??? How many PIT fans think Murray's getting a 1st still?!?!?! Because 99% of you did 5 days ago.
