With Domi looking to get overpaid long term or force his way to UFA in 2 years, this is a pretty easy no from Winnipeg.

That's fair, but you also got to think what kind of overpayment is Laine going to be looking for next offseason.

Trouba wanted out for personal reasons. Mainly his girlfriend now wife was a med student in Florida and was difficult for her to come to Canada to do her residency. It was never about money. Cause Winnipeg would have given him what NYR gave him in a heart beat.

True, but I'd rather pay Laine 9.5 than Domi 7 or something like that and Laine has 3 years of team control compared to 2 for Domi.
