As a Caps fan I'd pass. Risto is an extremely bad defensemen. Wouldn't mind having him on my team to play bottom pairing for $1.5M but he will obviously get more than that.

Can't trade a bunch of junk you don't want for Ehlers (let alone adding Roslovic). Won't work.

Overpay for Faksa, underpay for Donskoi.

Anaheim deal is interesting. Not sure they would do it but good work on that one.

Eller for Risto is probably a 1 for 1 if it happens.

I'd think that Ana deal would be the least likely, they need henrique for the reason buf does, and have no need for right wingers, especially over paid ones. Trade might be fair but doesn't make sense. Now last year if you took perry and henrique probably could have gotten away with mitts and okposo going back.

ALL THESE TRADES except Jets trade are proposals from fans of those teams - Jets trade is a composite trade of three other Sabres Jets trades

Avs might be willing to send Donskoi that way (depends on what else they do), but I don't think the compensation is quite there.

I don't envisage that Sakic would trade a guy 12 months after signing him to a 4 year deal in UFA. Especially with the destination being Buffalo. That wouldn't be a good look going forwards in terms of UFA loyalty.

That said, if we want to add some big fish at forward then Donskoi is a prime target to move out. This offer isn't quite there though. Maybe 2nd + Pilut would do it. But honestly it's hard to know how trade values are going to be this offseason. Moving a $3.9m contract without taking any cap back is tricky, but then again Kapanen brought back a 1st + prospect so who knows. 2nd + Pilut is my instinctive counter-offer though.

Most people on here have a really distorted view of Ristolainen. He’s a not as bad as people make him out to be on here, and guys like Keith Yandle and Kevin Shattenkirk have gotten bigger returns than the one proposed and are just as bad or good defensively as Ristolainen. Also in Buffalo, he is asked to be the number one defenseman here which he is not. And let’s not forget, Ristolainen has never had a legit top pair pairing partner either, he’s had Jake McCabe and Brandon Montour and scrubs, and none of those guys that they have had ideal partners for him. Ristolainen is also one of the best PP defenseman in the league, he’s 11th in PP points since 2016-17, Carlson is first.

Having said that, in Washington, he would not be asked to have that role what so ever and if he did let’s say due to injury to Carlson, he would probably fare much better with a better team. Not to mention he would lead their second PP unit easily and is capable of leading a first unit. He can even be a net front presence. Ristolainen would definelty help the capitals a lot and there is a need. He would easily be the second pair guy and lead the second PP unit

But Buffalo would need to retain A little salary maybe like a million or 1.5m, and the problem here are is that now Buffalo is rumored to have a internal cap of around 70-73 million, buffalo probably isn’t looking to retain or take on bad contracts, or take on equal money, they wanna dump salary and probably get picks and prospects.

Donskoi isn’t worth a 2nd rounder alone, nevermind adding Pilut too. He’s worth the high 3rd maybe, but he’s an overpaid 3rd liner, Buffalo has enough of those. He’s not a top 6 forward, and that’s what the Sabres need.

No it isn't. You move up almost 20 spots in the 1st round. Cap hit is equal for both teams, you get an elite player out of the draft and we get a 2nd line center, LHD (which you have 10000 of), and a very late 1st

You’re underestimating the cost of taking a player like Okposo in a covid world for a small market team, the amount of LD we have doesn’t make their value any lower. Henrique and Guhle would be enough to move up that far

On the other hand Guhle is a guy you hope can be a third pair LD one day, and Henrique is an average 2C who is 30 who is no iron-man who you hope doesn't rapidly go into decline - I took up this trade only because Eichel is getting crabby and if the fans revolt they will probably sell the team - are the Ducks in a full rebuild or not? with 8OA you'll most likely will have your choice of 2 of these three Rossi, Holtz or Sanderson - If the Sabres didn't have the pressure of not being in he playoffs so long I'd never make this trade.

True. But not an influential one. Thanks for the shoutout, though.

If we consider that Henrique = Kapanen, and Kapanen = 15th overall, then Henrique/15th overall plus 27th overall is enough for the 8th overall. You might argue that we should send a little more, so let's give you the best of it and return Guhle to you. Taking Okposo off your hands is a whole 'nother prospect.

Right now I'd say as a player Henrique is slightly better than Kapanen but he's older 30 compared to 24 and more expensive 5.8 mil as compared to 3.2 million so for value long term it's less than Kapanen - like I said if it wasn't for the fact that Eichel is getting fed up and the fans are getting impatient I'd never make this trade, long term the value of 8OA in this particular draft is by far the best value in the trade, the second best value is BOS 1st at 27th which could still produce a second line forward or second pairing Dman, Henrique you hope to get two 40 pt seasons from and that he doesn't get seriously injured, Guhle has some physical ability but unless he has some sort of epiphany he's the guy hanging on by a thread your 7th Dman.
