Compher for Bonino 1 for 1 is still an overpay. That desperate for the cap savings?

Sabres should make an offer for both Jost (or Compher) and Zadorov but with their new internal cap who knows.

NSH declines. Compher's a downgrade on Bonino and a 3rd isn't enough incentive to retain over $2M.

Not a Bonino fan and feels like an overpayment. I’ll be curious to see what King fans think Roy’s value is, that feels low that. Always creative though I like that.

In a vacuum Compher for Bonino is certainly an overpay given age and contracts. Bonino is a better C, but the difference between them quality-wise isn't huge and Compher is considerably younger. Nashville also need wingers so he'd be a perfect fit there.

That said, the retention is the key factor here. Swapping Compher for Bonino with retenion saves $1.5m in cap that can go towards adding Hall. Maybe it would need to be a 2nd though.

Yeah i'm curious on Roy as well. Maybe something like the Goodrow deal (late 1st + C prospect for Goodrow/Roy + early 3rd) would work. His caphit would give us tonnes of roster flexibility, and he'd fit the exact role we can do with a depth add in.

I think he might be worth more than Goodrow, if I’m the Kings though I’m not trading him.

I meant Bonino isn't worth Compher alone. I wouldn't do it unless you really need the cap savings. The pick is overkill.

NSH needs top six wingers. The bottom six is already pretty full. Compher doesn't suit their needs.

Kings won’t be trading Roy right now. They don’t have a replacement RHD ready to take his spot.

The kings definitely won’t retain anything on him

I would want/need the capsavings to pursue Hall on a 1 year deal. And also to have some unused capspace to allow for a deadline rental.

Ok, that makes more sense. You could probably get more for Compher elsewhere then trade lesser futures for Bonino.

As my colleague @KINGS67 points out, Roy's value to Los Angeles is out of all proportion to his value to everyone else because we have only 3 NHL-qualified RD's (i.e., no one remotely capable of being promoted from the AHL) in the system. Trading Roy would just force us to go out and get a free agent RD on the market because we don't have anyone remotely capable of switching over to that side (a la Alec Martinez).

If we were to sign a quality RD or two first (like Dylan DeMelo) or trade for one (like MacKenzie Weegar), one trade I think would be reasonable is that 15th overall pick Toronto euchred Pittsburgh out of for Blake Lizotte and Matt Roy. Chew that over and see if it gives you any bright ideas.

Out of curiosity, do LAK have any assets they'd be willing to part with in a Roy+ for Timmins trade?

I like Timmins 21 year old RHD If he’s ready to step up right away id see if a trade can be made. But I doubt he’d be ready to step in. He’s had 1 year in the AHL right? He probably needs at least 1 more season.
