Buffalo laughs, hangs up, laughs some more, prank calls you with an equally horrible counter offer. Ullmark for 3 1sts conditional on him playing 60 games of course.

It's not unreasonable at all, Buffalo needs to make the playoffs (Freddie has consistently done that for TO), has an internal Cap of 70 million (Freddie makes a whopping 1 million dollars this final season) and the only way it's costs that 1st is if the Sabres make the playoffs or Freddie plays 60 games (which the team can control) or Freddie resigns (which the team can control) so if a condition is met it's likely 20 - 25 OA

Did Letang lose a limb that I’m not aware of?

In this goalie market it's still an overpay. Ullmark is good enough compared to Andersen.

Ullmark has never been a starter, never made the playoffs, and will cost them 3 million against the internal cap

Letang has had a few injury problems is 33 , is a significant cap hit, I'm willing to discuss the 2021 1st if another 750,000 is available in retention

We arent trading a first for a goalie. Im all for picking one up off the ufa scrap heap for cheap. Need better skaters in front of the goalie. Our first next year may very well be on the table, but its for a center, rw, maybe ld.

Oh, very nice of you to discuss the 1st

In what world does a late 1st and Holl get you a #1 defenseman? Would you move Reilly for that package?

You probably wouldn’t even move Liljegrin for that package and his ceiling is maybe a #3, it’s brutal for Pittsburgh

You have an internal cap of 70 million ( internal means actual cash out) you will not find a Goalie with Andersen's resume and quality for the million dollars the Sabres will.spend on his salary and it only cost a first if do not make the playoffs

Rielly is 26 will be 28 when he's a free agent and his pay bump wouldn't put him much higher than what Letang currently gets - the difference is with Rielly your Prime years with Letang twilight years solid twilight years but twilight years

Letang has shown zero signs of slowing down, if the Leafs want a top end defenseman they can sign Pietrangelo or give up something of value. That package just isn’t close, especially for a win now team like Pittsburgh

Feel free to shop him around, if there's one statement JR made this offseason it's he's selling low on cash heavy contracts and buy high on cash light contracts

Why do Leaf fans on this site think Justin Holl is some elite young player that can be the center piece of any trade?

No one says he's some elite young player, you're assuming Letang would get you some elite young player - this deal frees up 5 million in cap space, unloads 9 million in cash and aquired a 2nd rnd pick, I said earlier I'm willing to discuss the 2021 1st if an additional 750,000 is available on retention

What in the hell is that Letang trade? That is absolute garbage return for the Penguins and does nothing to help them now. What a joke.

Buffalo declines. We cut costs and don't trade our first rounds.
