To be honest with you, I would take Appleton, Lundmark and Winnipeg's 2020 second for Manson plus an agreement to keep our mitts off Dylan DeMelo.

Wrong. His only good season was 2017-2018. Other than that he's been average. Nothing special. He's not even a top 30 d-man in the league.

2016-2017 2017-2018 2018-2019 he was our best defender besides Lindholm. If he was nothing special, Winnipeg Toronto and other teams wouldn’t be interested in him. You’re right he’s not top 30 because there’s a ton of talented defenders. Not every defender in the league has to be as good as Hedman to be valuable. They all have their positives.
If Manson were that bad he wouldn’t have been protected by GMBM in the expansion draft.

Just because he may have been a top defender on Anaheim, doesn't make him that good. He had 1 good year, the year I mentioned. Other than that he's been average. Just because he was the 2nd best defender on a terrible Anaheim team, doesn't make him good. & protecting players isn't always about who's best. Anaheim didn't have many good players to protect. Manson has value though and losing him for nothing to expansion made no sense. So you protect him to get some kinda value for him. Still doesn't mean he's that good though.

Anaheim won’t take 4 quarters for a dollar. They will want a good prospect back (Heinola, Samberg etc)

Stop looking at points, thats not why you acquire Manson, you acquire Manson because he can shut down the other teams offense with smart defensive plays, he’ll be a leader in the locker room, He won’t bat an eye at blocking shots, he’ll win puck battles in corners, he’ll blow someone up into the boards, and will kill a guy if you ask him or someone messes with his teammate. Really the only thing he doesn’t do, at least often is putt up points, and luckily Winnipeg has no issues with that.
