Description

I always defend Marc Bergevin but this, this trade gets me. I don’t mind Edmundson on the 3rd pairing, physical guy, can play on the PK with Weber Petry Chiarot. I know Ouellet-Mete had a hard playoff run, but Kulak did great, Romanov is coming over, why. Low terms with low AAV I can live with it, anything over 4M is bad IF Edmundson doesn’t perform at Chiarot level

That’s why I’m scared of is next contract. But playing 3LHD with PK play, nothing more. Just clear the blue crease, don’t do turnovers and we won’t complain lol

Headscratcher by Bergevin. Probably his backup plan after his offers for Graves came up short

He is pretty similar to Chiarot, so your contract projections is pretty good. That being said habs also didn't have a month to negotiate with Chiarot and Edmundson is two years younger. Edmundson has played the past two years on one year deals so maybe he we will take some term and job security.

With the expansion draft coming, the habs were likely going to lose a defenceman anyways so this isn't bad.

Guess we will have to wait and see if they come up with a contract and then what follows, I'm assuming some other deals might be lined up involving Mete and/or Kulak.

Don’t understand why they are trying to sign Edmunson. He isn’t an upgrade over Kulak/Mete/Chiarot and they have romanov coming up. Too many LHDs as it is.

To be honest, it's not a bad idea. I would take Edmundson in Toronto if he were right handed. Not sure why you'd trade pick for contract negotiation rights though.

Is Romanov ready to jump in the NHL and play big minutes next year? I don't know about his situation, but, probably not. Defenders take time to develop.

He’s should be, played 2 years in the KHL at 18-19 and 19-20 yo, very physical and good defensively. Anyway all will depends on is next contract ( if he signs of course )
