Not a fan of either team but I feel like Danault and ADA have basically the same value (if anything, ADA’s skillset is more sought after as an extremely talented right shot offensive defenseman), and 3rd+C prospect is fine for Mete so if anything the Rangers are overpaying by adding Pajuniemi lol

Whether you want ADA is another issue, but the value is there so to counter asking for 3 great pieces for at best a 50pt 2-way 2C is absurd

I get what you are saying here but I was referring to value to the Habs. With Weber and Petry both here ADA adds no value to the deal he would be burried on the 3rd pairing. IMO it would be more prudent to trade Staal and a 1st as a cap dump than trade ADA or at least make a trade to a team looking for a RHD upgrade to fill a hole at LHD.

The thought process was that ADA would be a younger replacement for Petry since he is a pending UFA...

It would be a great idea but Petry is our best D man and will likely resign for between 5.5-6 Mil next year. Weber is not going anywhere unfortunately so ADA doesn't fit. To the Habs using ADA to replace Petry would be like using him to replace Trouba for the Rangers (value wise even though Trouba is younger).
