Lehner

Description
With the reports of lehner going to be extended for 5 years, what’s next for VGK? I know that he denied this claim, but I first heard it from Nick Kypreos and I’d take that as a pretty reliable source. What does VGK do at this point? I’m a jets fan, so I’m not too knowledgeable when it comes to the Knights. Fleury likely goes if lehner is extended, but where to? Jets likely would have a call to Vegas in regards to stastny and this would greatly help VGK out in terms of gaining some cap space to make a few moves. Not going to bother with the lines as I have no idea how they’d end up.

Give me some Landing possibilities for Fleury.

To me, the goalie carousel is one of the most interesting questions of the off-season. Will Lundqvist retire? Will Rask return? Where will Markstrom sign? What will happen with Khudobin, Greiss and Elliott? Do Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa stand pat, or seek improvement? Will Askarov be taken in the first round? Will Toronto decide to replace Freddie Andersen now? Does Lehner stay in Las Vegas, or does he go to Carolina or Colorado? Is Nashville ready to give up on Rinne?

To answer your question, I think that Carolina, Detroit and Ottawa are the most likely places for Fleury to go right now, but if the #1 slot opens up in New York or Boston, those are possibilities, too. And I wouldn't be surprised if some third-party pass-through team was involved (as in the Lehner trade), to lop a couple of million off the top.

Pretty certain Paul will be more than willing to waive his NTC to go to Winnipeg....he fit in with you guys perfectly a couple years back.

But his situation is actually more unique than most. Because he turns 35 in 3+ months, he could be signed to an extension in January for the team he’s playing for. IF he’s willing to take a league minimum (35+ contract) plus bonuses, his value is considerably more.

And given the flat cap I have to think he will be more than happy to make $700k plus bonuses. So if I’m Winnipeg I’m probably willing to pay more than a 5th knowing that resigning him might cost peanuts.

But what do I know?

I can't see Fleury waiving his NTC for DET or OTT. CAR could be a destination. NYR doesn't make sense since they'll have Georgiev/Shesterkin if Lundqvist retires -- and BOS could be interesting, but I don't see Rask retiring.

As far as Rinne, NSH is do or die with him. He won't be traded unless he asks to be at the deadline.

Jets shouldn't waste anymore assets on Stastny, he's basically cost them almost an entire round of draft picks which is crazy, it's time to accept he didn't want to be a Jet for longer then a couple months and move on.

Jets have cap space, no need for them to worry about the next years 700k as he’d likely just be a stopgap 2c option anyways.
