Oilers say no

Why
I know you don’t like losing Bouchard but you’re getting Gallagher

Losing Bouchard and a first round pick. Bouchard being a RHD with his potential is hard to find. The first round pick is 14th overall in a deep draft and the Oilers already don't have a second. They wouldn't be picking until the 3rd round. Holland has expressed he won't mortgage future for rental which is what both tatar and gall would be. Oilers don't have the cap space to make the trade and sign those other let RFA's or fill roster holes. Plus I think Holland still values JP more then just a throw in.

That’s like saying I know you don’t like losing Romanov but you’re getting Zach Hyman lol are you willing to trade Romanov to the Leafs for Hyman?

It’s a 2021 1st, but Gallagher ( extend ) > Bouchard
Tatar ( at 2.4M ) > JP
So the 2021 1st is to balance that

Gallagher >>>>>> Hyman

They had the same points per game this year (Hyman actually got goals at a more prolific rate), both play a physical game, and both have 1 year left until UFA. They’re pretty decent comparables tbh

A quick google search and a calculation would show he was on pace for 34 but alright mate

Imagine thinking Hyman as the same value than Gallagher lol and I really like Hyman, he’s a Lehkonen with finish

So I take it you wouldn’t trade Romanov for him? Wow almost like that’s the real point I was trying to make. Why would Edmonton trade an elite D prospect for an expiring winger

Also losing chasson, solid cheap depth PP player. Right now, galls would be better then Bouchard but by mid season Bouchards playing top 4 mins and 20 points. He's much younger and a too tier D prospect. Galls a 60 point player MAX and 28. Oilers are giving up way more. The Oilers would have to win the cup for this trade to be worth it. And Holland's not trading away a top tier D prospect a first round pick for the possibility of having a chance to win the cup this 1 season. Especially for a rental in Tatar who's also 29 and a 60 point player. And theres no way of knowing if galls does resign and for how long and how much when's hes will just be another over 30 player on a bad contract. Bottom line, the oielrs are giving up way to much for one season of offence. They keep that first and Bouchard and they have the potential to have a top pairing right shot D for 10 years plus JP could come back and put up 30-50 this year alone. And he's only 22. And the oilers still don't in have the cap for this trade plus everything else they need to get done.

If an extension with Gallagher is in place, let’s say 5 years 6.5M, would it be more interesting ?
For JP, the GM said he was looking for a solid 3rd line winger for JP, so is value isn’t that high but he isn’t a throw in
And yes, Edmonton need to win a cup the next 2-3 years with that trade, like Vegas did with Pacioretty. Suzuki + Tatar + 2nd round pick for 5 years of Pacioretty, Suzuki looks Elite, but that’s the price to pay

The problem is Edmonton hasn’t made the playoffs in several years, they’re not coming off a trip to the finals lol, kind of a different situation

Getting 2 top wingers for Edm is alot... but risky as both would hit FA for 3 GREAT Blue chip... that'S the problem with this new NHL... you can't lose 3 BlueChip ELC low contract value for 2 UFA even if you sign them back... this is like adding 14M against 3M +Chiasson cap dump... I think you would need to target another D Prospect like Samurukov or even Jones

Tatar walks Gallagher extend
JP isn’t a blue chip prospect and a late first isn’t a blue chip prospect either
Only Bouchard is one + being a RHD
MTL doesn’t need more LHD prospects

If we trade Tatar AND Gally, you might as well trade Danault too because he’ll walk.
