Create a scenario that works better for Tampa in the short and long term than this one. It's really hard to do.

I don't think that's enough for Cirelli and Sergachev.

Johnson for Miller trade doesn't make sense for Buffalo.

Have you looked into their cap scenario. NOTHING helps them in the short term. They basically need to shed like 12-15m in cap going into next season.

I meant it helps their cap in the short term and then their overall team in the long term with the picks.

Johnson and his NTC says no....maybe even the Sabres say no to 5m Johnson.
The Detroit trade....Tampa may not get a better offer, and even at that the roster is impractical. 21 man rosters don't work, and Johnson isn't falling on the cap and leaving a good situation in Tampa.

Yea totally. Tampa is in cap hell extreme. Especially with COVID happening. I have no idea what they will do to get out of it. I think what I did here is an option for them.

Okay. Still over cap by far. Who or what else do you move? I just made another AGM as to what I would do. Doesn't mean that they will be able to do it though.

So this AGM is one option.

Valsileyski and his 9.5m cap hit still could be traded, which is rarely suggested. But do teams want such a high $$$ and long term on a goalie...maybe the best NHL goalie?

Bridge all 3 RFA's. Trade a combination of Johnson, Killorn, Paquette, Coburn. Done

Ya totally. with COVID shredding the world and money issues being prevalent among owners, I don't see it happening. Like what team would go after him?

I would consider it for the Leafs, but there would need to be a major team reconstruction in that case.

What about Johnson and a 2nd to Winnipeg for Roslovic, Palat to the Predators for Novak and Trevino, and McDonagh and two 2nd's to Florida for Tippett? Would that work out for you guys?

The Leafs and so many teams are near the cap, that they can't trade for large cap player without giving equal cap bad in return. And good RFAs are now getting almost UFA money, even teams with cap have to be wary of their cap in the next few years if their young ELCs become stars. I'm thinking of Makar, can be getting 8m Chabot money.

Wasn’t it reported the Pegulas wanted to cut payroll for the upcoming season? How would this move help them accomplish this?

Not the kind of move a rebuilding team would offer and not the kind of move a contender would accept.

So does Detroit, Cirelli and Sergachev aren't worth the #4 pick plus 2 2nds and a 3rd the #4 pick alone is worth both players.

You're totally delusional if you think that Cirelli and Sergachev are worth the #4 pick plus 2 2nds and a 3rd the #4 pick alone is worth both.

We can agree to disagree on the value here, regardless the trade makes no sense for Tampa and little sense for Detroit

Tampa would add something to either for the #4 pick, if they wanted to go that route. They'd laugh and hang up if Yzerman asked for both or more just f ok r the #4 pick.

Pretty straightforward for Tampa, Killorn and Paquette will be traded first, then Coburn either will agree to waive and get traded, or Tampa will choose to either buy him out or place him on waivers if need be. Johnson will be dealt with the same way. After close to min level replacements, Tampa will have approximately 14.25 to 14.85 ti sign Cirelli, Serg, Cernak and 1 or 2 other players(likely Maroon and Bogosian, maybe Rutta). Serg, Cirelli and Cernak will bridge for 11 to 12 between them, and Maroon and Bogo will take on the 1 to 1.5 range on one or two year deals. Tampa likely starts with a 22 man roster, although 21 isn't out of the question. Tampa is in a somewhat tight cap spot, but nothing close to this unsolvable cap hell so many are talking about.
