I wonder if #6oa + Manson + Lundestrom for Laine would be interesting to either team? I guess it depends on who's still otb when 6 comes around but it would be a pretty big shakeup for both sides. Jets could keep Wheeler at 2c for another season, take Rossi or Perfetti, and hope one of them (or possibly Lundestrom) works their way into that spot the following year. Ducks would have Getz or Zegras setting up one of the best shooters in the game.

I do personally LOVE the idea of Laine playing for the Ducks. Not sure if that trade would do it, just because WPG already have so many centers and Henrique would just be another (although he can play RW too). The thing that would do it, aforementioned happy^ would be who is available at #6. Some crazy good forwards at the top of the draft and that would make or break the trade.

Yeah the thought process was that Henrique could be the placeholder long-term 2C the WPG team is lacking until they get a future one they pick the 6th overall - probably either Rossi or Perfetti.

There would be a couple of problems with this deal for Winnipeg.

First- why would Winnipeg add Perreault to the deal to lessen Laine's value? The Jets don't have any problem with Perreault's cap hit, so they aren't going to lower Laine's value by adding Perreault.

Second- there is absolutely no chance the Jets move Laine when two of the main pieces will be 29 years old or older when the season starts.

They're not adding Perreault as a way to decrease value but as a way to even out the cap.

I don't think the age is the issue since the assets benefit WPG immensely. Not to mention they're getting an awesome C prospect with that 6th overall.

From everything Winnipeg management has said, age would definitely be a problem. It would be very unlikely they consider this deal.

Anaheim Ducks
Patrik Laine
Mathieu Perreault

Winnipeg Jets
Rickard Rakell
Josh Manson
Isac Lundestrom

The Jets are looking for pieces under 25 years old and with more term than 2 years. They would say no.

Really man...I don't think any team in the league, aside from NJ (Hischier, Severson) has the pieces that WPG would demand based on what you've told me.

I agree with you. Which is why everyone is reporting that neither Laine or Ehlers will likely be traded as the Jets ask is astronomical and Chevy won't move them unless the offer blows him away.
