Looks as though the leafs would get the 13OA, but they say no regardless. Matthews is as untouchable as it gets.

Leafs definitely get much better, but probably decline because Matthews.

Carolina likely immediately becomes a solid bet for a top 5 pick next season.

Actually, he pretty much is. Not just saying that as a Leafs fan but, as a realistic and logical fan of the game.

McDavid is the leagues biggest star and a generational talent no question.

Matthews was on pace to score 55 goals this year as a 22 year old centre. He finished 2nd in Selke voting this season. He is big, strong, and improving in both sides of the game. He is also a generational talent.

Either team would be foolish to move either one of these guys. They are that valuable and rare.

So, as far as untouchable goes, I would say that they are on the same level there.

i beg to differ. imo mcdavid is just on a level of his own which makes him just a tad more untouchable

Worse.

I think you are off on a few of your RFA and UFA numbers too.

Trading generational talent is always a bad idea.

This just creates more cap issues with re-signing UFA's the following year in a flat cap era.

Hard no from me.

Pretty much as unrealistic as it gets really.

Just because He is a better player does not make him more untouchable

Mcdavid 0% chance of getting traded = Matthews 0% chance of getting traded.

0 = 0 no matter how you look at it

I don't think that he is on a level of his own TBH. As amazing as he is, he is not a complete player. (Not saying Matthews is, its just a fact).

The guy is an elite, elite... superstar. No question and the game's biggest star. That means something for sure.

Having Draisaitl in the mix in Edmonton makes McDavid less untouchable. That is just a fact. It can be argued that LD actually was better and more valuable to the team overall the past two years. (Injuries aside).

If the Oilers don't start winning soon, McDavid may say enough is enough, get me the F outa' here.

It doesn't matter anyways, because at this point, neither one of them is going anywhere.
