What Id expect out of a Kane to COL trade

Description
Keep in mind, I'm not necessarily saying this is the correct value. I could very well be off value-wise. But the 3 players coming back to SJ are the important parts of the trade in my opinion. The value can be adjusted accordingly.

They're not trading him after he helped stop racism though.

I’d aim higher. Get an A level prospect at least. Get your goalie in FA.

I'd be good with this too, not sure if COL is willing to give up two good young pieces though, a bit of a stretch to put Kaut at 3RW next season over Gambrell, True, or Chmelevski.

Definitely see your point. The beauty of Francouz is that he's gonna be cheap, he played quite a few games last year, and put up a very respectable save %. No one in FA will be that cheap or proficient I think (that we can afford). I'd love to get back a better prospect as you've suggested though. I'm just not sure Colorado would be willing to give up too much more.

It would be tough to convince them, but I like Kaut's upside. And yeah I should probably find an alternative to him at 3RW.

Kaut is def better than Gambrell and likely True. Sasha we’d see.

I think the trade is fair but

in all seriousness though, people don't pay attention enough to PR and public image of teams when proposing trades. it's for this reason I don't think Minnesota is trading Dumba anytime soon, and Philadelphia isn't trading Lindblom especially after he signed a new contract.

100% agreed; as why I never have a serious Kane trade suggestion. Kane has openly said he loves San Jose (his article he wrote with whatever journalism piece), and then this years events; Kane likely stays with San Jose till contract end or in a few years once things settle. Same with players like Ryan, he won’t be trade his story is too big and Ottawa knows they can afford him as a secondary thought...then again it is Melnyk

Yep, that's why I said the sharks PR department would burn down in mine, not a good look to trade Kane after what's been going on.

The whole thing with Kane from an Avs point of view is his contract, and specifically the years left on it because I don’t think the AAV is out of line. With 5 yrs left during that time span the Avs literally have to re-sign everyone except Rantanen and Girard. That includes 2nd contracts for guys like Byram and Newhook you expect to be pretty darn good and the obvious huge contracts for Makar and Landeskog and the monster one for MacKinnon. The value is very fair but to really consider it I would think that the Avs would like to have extensions for Landeskog and Makar in place first.

Agreed. And we aren't really interested in trading him in the first place to be honest. This was more of a theoretical scenario, but in most of the other A-GM's most people realize he's pretty much a lock to stay in SJ. We like him here...so far...
