There is nothing CBJ wants in that deal you're offering. We're not trading Korpi without a top-6 forward (preferably a 2C) coming back. We're not gonna trade you a starting goalie and your new 3C (and retain a million) only to get back a bottom 6 wing, a disappointing prospect, a D we don't need, and a 4th rounder. Genuinely awful effort here.

Ottawa doesn't have any interest in Russell the D-man. They have interest in Russell the cap dump, which means Russell the bad contract coming back with a sweetener, not costing them assets. It'd be Russell and a 3rd for a 5th kind of thing at best for the Oilers, otherwise they'd have to be looking elsewhere to send him. The Sens blueline is already full as is with people they'd rather give minutes to to evaluate for the future.

LMAO. Korpse has been below average over the past 4 years and you want a massive return for him because he had a 9-game hot stretch?? This is an overpay from Edmonton's side.

we need to pay for ottawa to take russell. 4th is going the wrong way

Also: good job on not overpaying for Korpisalo. He's not as good as people think

You know what, you're right. Korpisalo, who was an All-Star this year, was unbelievable in the playoffs, is on a super-affordable deal, and is drawing interest from basically half of the league. What could I have been thinking?

Korpi probably doesn't bring back a 2C by himself, but Columbus isn't trading him as part of any deal without that caliber of player coming back. Don't forget that Elvis is exempt from the Seattle draft, so we can protect Korpi and keep both if we want.

Korpisalo was only in the All-Star game because a Blue Jacket had to be in there lol
He has a career SV% of .908 and has never played more than 37 games in a season

Russel only has one year left on his contract and is still a great option on the 3rd pairing. Oilers aren’t going to give up an asset to get rid of him. They aren’t that desperate to shed salary this year

And that's totally fair. But Ottawa isn't that desperate for an overpaid 3rd pairing defenseman when they have plenty of 3rd pairing guys, especially when the majority of them are guys that are 25 and under that they'd like to get reps in to see what they have. If they were trying to contend, or if Russell was any better than he actually is, we'd be having a different conversation. He's not. So we aren't. If Ottawa's the destination, it would have to be carrying a sweetener. Not a big one, but a sweetener nonetheless. I don't personally think a team will take on his full cap hit without getting something back though. Nearly no team with that cap space in the COVID era is in a position to actually care about acquiring a 3rd pairing guy enough to spend assets on him.
